Jennifer Lavoie lives in Connecticut in the same city she grew up in. While growing up, she always wanted to be a writer or a teacher and briefly debated a career in marine biology. The only problem with that was she’s deathly afraid of deep water. Starting during a holiday season as temporary help, she worked in a bookstore for six years and made it all the way up to assistant manager before she left to take a job teaching. Jennifer has her bachelor’s degree in secondary English education and found a job in her town teaching middle school students. Along with another teacher and a handful of students, Jennifer started the first Gay-Straight Alliance at the school. She is also active in other student clubs and enjoys pairing students with b ...more

Thanks for asking! Sorry I didn't respond sooner; I just saw the question!

I love reading science fiction and fantasy novels. They're my absolute favorite! I will read just about anything that is put in front of me, but my trusted go to genre is definitely the hard scifi. I love seeing how an author builds worlds and how people adapt to them. "Aristoi" by Walter Jon Williams was the book that got me hooked. I read it when I was about fifteen and was fascinating. Terraforming has been a mild obsession of mine since then. There's something that intrigues me about going to an empty planet and turning into a life-supporting environment.

Right now I'm also into the Taking Shield series by Anna Butler. The first one, Gyrfalcon, was everything I love about hard scifi, plus it has a romance in the background between two wonderful male leads. While their relationship does not take center stage, it's there enough to satisfy. But, again, the focus is the hard scifi. There's a dangerous alien species, fascinating technology, world building... I could go on for hours!(less)

Your book is not prefect, no one writes a perfect book. The editor is there to help you and will MAKE it the perfect book with you. They are worth their weight in gold and then some. So don't fight them during the editing process. Listen, and then apply what they tell you to make your writing better. (less)

Ko-Fi up and running

Hey everyone!

Recently I decided to set up a ko-fi account for the heck of it. I wanted an easier way to share videos about my journey, and I thought a ko-fi account would be a good way to get more out there. It helps keep my fiction writing separate from the videos I’d like to make as it sets up a new channel for me to express myself.

If you’re interested in checking it out, you can find me here: h

I adored this book. It was much different than the others because of how Cole and Xel met, but that made for world more compelling. I also thought there was only going to be three books, but with the fourth confirmed and such an in

Asa nails it

I loved it. I was a little worried that Asa finding his person would take away his relationship with Avi, but the author made it clear this was not the case at all. Their relationship was much rockier to start than the others. I didn’t k

I don’t know what to say other than perfection. I loved seeing all of the characters interact from all of the series, and it was just hilarious at points. I highlighted so many lines.
