I'm always writing: for my blog, at my HealthCentral mental health website job, for books I want to publish in the future.

The key is seeing and observing and listening to and understanding what goes on around you. Then take this and write about it.

A lot of times you can start out by writing about the scene you're in: the pattern of the tablecloth on your dining table where you write, the green patina candlesticks on the table, the Van Gogh print on the wall.

I find myself getting pieces of dialogue and ideas for novels that come into my head at different times during the day. Carry a small journal to record this inspiration when it comes to you.

You don't have to write every day. You just have to write on a schedule that is consistent. It can be an hour a day in the morning or three hours a week.

I get ideas in my head all the time for things to write about. You can keep an ideas notebook about things you want to write about and choose one topic to write about on the days the writing doesn't come easy.

Plots of novels have come to me in dreams when I'm sleeping.

Take a walk. Develop a fitness routine. These things will give you mental muscle too.(less)

Hi everyone,

I had thought I would be able to post blog entries here every weekend. That hasn't panned out. I'm able however to write when I can to achieve quality over quantity here.
