Author Christina (C.A.) Larmer was born in remote Papua New Guinea where close encounters with witchdoctors and cannibal progeny (no, really), gave her a morbid taste for mystery that has culminated in more than a dozen crime novels, including four in the Amazon-bestselling Agatha Christie Book Club series, two Posthumous Mysteries, seven Ghostwriter Mysteries, a thriller/suspense, and a stand-alone novel called An Island Lost, which is set in deepest Papua—where else?

When she's not politely bumping people off (they are mostly 'cozies', folks), Christina can be found in the hinterland behind Byron Bay (Aus) where she runs an indie publishing biz, teaches, freelances, and hangs out with her muso hubby, two sons and one very cheeky Blue heele

Apart from fetching my fifth tea for the day, putting on another load of washing and checking Facebook, you mean?

I have two remedies for writer's block:
1. Just write. (Most people hate this one, as it sounds hard, and often is, but believe me, if you just open the page and start tapping, even if it's a load of old bollocks, doesn't matter, keep tapping, eventually something haf decent will come out. Trust me on that.)
2. Get a Scrapbook and replot. This may not work for everyone but I have found if the story is NOT gushing out like it normally does, it means the story is stuck (and probably crap). So I pull out my scrapbook and retweak the plot— perhaps the killer is too obvious? Perhaps a character needs more developing? I jot down ideas, I cross out old ones and I get the creative juices flowing. Then I go back to Step 1.(less)

I love the characters (they are characters) of the book club. I was sad for Alicia about the death of her good friend. I'm happy that she followed her instinct and proved that her friend did not commit suicide. The book club onc" Read more of this review »

“ghastly girl. Might as well move in. I don’t know why Wade stands for it, frankly. But, well, he has other fish to fry...” He took another mouthful of salad. “Oh?”
C.A. Larmer, A Plot to Die For

“Merry had finally realised on that long drive back from Jindabyne—with help from a wise elder—what it was that was eating at her youngest, causing him to implode. Archie was hungry! Starving, in fact, for his mother and her cooking, and the life they used to share. “Parents often step back when kids become adolescents,” Earle had told her. “You ask me, that’s a big mistake. Fourteen-year-olds need as much love and attention as four-year-olds, maybe even more.”
C.A. Larmer, Good Girls Don't Drink Vodka

“we need to stick to the facts. That’s what Hercule Poirot would do.”

“It is romantic, yes,’ agreed Hercule Poirot. ‘It is peaceful. The sun shines. The sea is blue. But you forget, Miss Brewster, there is evil everywhere under the sun’.”
