Social media, could it actually make life better?

It’s not based on conventional narratives just my personal observations. Social media is a powerful tool for spreading misinformation and cruelty towards those who disagree with us. Facebook, Instagram, X, Thread and more are creating a very toxic virtual world that is shaping our reality.
In fact, calling “social media” a media is misleading. It’s a social engineering dumpster, filled with an overwhelming amount of information that distorts reality and exploits our innate desires for connection and validation. The idea of bringing the world together might have been the initial pitch when social media platforms attempted to establish their foundations, promoting inclusivity and shared experiences. However, now it has us by the balls, tightly gripping our attention and emotions, often leading to addiction and mental distress. This manipulation of human psychology reveals a landscape where genuine interactions are overshadowed by curated personas, creating a paradox where we feel more isolated despite being constantly connected.
Politicians now use social media as their personal stage to hurl insults and parade their own “facts” like carnival prizes. It’s the magical place where the talentless sibling of a famous athlete can collect fans as if fame were contagious, and where we air our grievances about exes with the dedication of someone fulfilling a civic duty. This is the virtual megaphone through which we broadcast every frustration, from global crises to the tragedy of cold coffee, all wrapped in the illusion that the world was desperately waiting to hear it.
Distraction or influential?Social media could be influential, that influence could be both good and bad. In recent years it seems social media gave platform to voices that are more self-serving and influential with an agenda. Seems social media became a machine rather than a platform.

Social network has made us more antisocial. Social media lets us share our opinion with the world, no matter how absurd they may be. In recent years it’s less about engaging with others and more about propagating.

The purpose of this particular blog isn’t to criticize social media platform such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Rather change our perception of the overall impact of social media. What if we read everything on social media without reserving judgment? Yes, without judgment. I’m not suggesting something from my high horse, I often read comments from strangers and take it personally. How ridiculous does it seem? A complete stranger somehow offended me with his comment, which very likely wasn’t even meant for me.

A great motivational speaker and author once said, if we look for things to be offended we will find them. So what if we tried to eliminate seeking distractions that could actually offend us for no valid reason? Can you imagine how free we would feel? What if we read posts and if we disagree we merely move on?
Discussion not argumentWhen reading or responding our initial instinct is to be defensive. But let’s not. Even if it feels it’s personal or even provocative. First and foremost, with practice each and every day I am learning to be less reactive. What I mean is if I read something or hear something I don’t care for I simply focus on not reacting to it. It’s not an easy task. In the beginning it seemed impossible but I had to expand my perception.
On social media, it’s just as easy to be respectful as it is to be disrespectful—it’s entirely our choice. It doesn’t have to feel like a perfect movie scene, but showing more tolerance and a bit more patience when engaging can go a long way. Eventually, we must realize that hating consumes so much time and energy. By being just a little more understanding, we could transform social media into a truly useful resource with a positive impact.
It’s not easy to ignore everything that could bother you. But it is possible to gradually choose how we react or if we react. What I mean is instead of being offended or upset by something that is merely an opinion we could just move forward without giving too much thought.
Tailor social media to your needsSocial media serves a purpose, it doesn’t control us. It gives everyone a platform, it could be both good and bad. Well recent years have shown it is more good than bad. But one by one what if we turned it around. We could disagree intelligently and yes respectfully. There are so many good examples of good and decency on social media as well. And focusing on that more often.
Social media platforms rely on users for their existence and profit from our addiction to instant gratification. If we reclaim control by reducing our engagement, particularly by avoiding social media for the first few hours of the day, we can mitigate the negative impact of these platforms and their incentive to spread harmful narratives. We have the power to boycott social media. We have the power to spread more positive or at the very least not react to everything we disagree with. You don’t bark at every dog that’s bark at you.
Final thoughtSocial media has become an influential machine. We could choose to be kind and others may follow. We could disagree with one another but remain respectful. The world all around us is starving for kindness. Let’s use this platform to spread kindness instead of anger.

Movies can make us laugh and cry, sweeping us away on an emotional journey. They fill us with joy and happiness, yet can also stir feelings of sadness and nostalgia.
These powerful stories and characters allow us to connect deeply with our own experiences. They remind us of the complexities of life. Ultimately, movies have a unique way of stirring our emotions, making us feel a wide range of sentiments that resonate long after the credits roll.
Date night, family night and yes even watching movies during class in school. In short there are so many activities revolved around movies.
Evolution of cinema over the years
Motion pictures have undergone a remarkable transformation over the past few decades. The first motion picture, created by Louis Le Prince in 1888, marked the beginning of this journey.
Fast forward 132 years, and streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and Apple TV are now producing films that can be viewed on televisions, laptops, tablets, and even smartphones. Netflix, often regarded as a pioneer in streaming production, has made it possible for us to stream virtually anywhere.
Do you remember which movies you loved the most growing up? Maybe you still love them just as much. In an essence watching the movies you loved as kids are a bridge to the memory lane. For me it’s Home Alone (1 and 2), Goonies, Beverly Hills Cop, Die Hard (1, 2 and 3). They remind me of a chapter of my life I get to fondly treasure.
It could also be reminders of many fantastic events of life’s journeys. Maybe the first movie you watched with the love of your life, you could watch over and over. Or it could be a movie that cheers you up when feeling down, you feel regrouped. Movies that are part of the family holiday seasons. You get the idea.

Family night, date, and going to the movies have been a huge part of our social construct. We are fascinated by movies. Fiction or non-fiction, there is a certain allure to the cinema.
Telling a storyMovies tell stories, and characters in the stories are sometimes relatable. A class clown, or a jerk boss, an inspiring coach, or a clueless teenager. These characters on the big screen capture emotions that we seldom can relate to. Sometimes movies inspire us because they are based on true stories. Sometimes, even fiction makes us feel joy, sadness, or optimism.

HBO Max has started streaming newly released blockbuster titles. Netflix also joined in by releasing new titles in 2021 on a monthly basis.
Peek into the selections on HULU, Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max and more. For the time being online streaming might be the best option to stay away from coming to contact with other individuals. And let’s face it online streaming also make it easier to have a family movie night for any occasion.

Meet Joe Black: This is as close to a romantic movies as I have enjoyed. The legendary Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt, truly an amazing due in this movie. The speech by Anthony Hopkins character truly demonstrates why he is the legend he is.The Gentlemen series: Netflix streaming truly lived up to the hype with this show. The cast, the plot and the twists and turns did not disappoint.
The Perfect Couple: This Netflix series is truly a great binge watch. The twist and turn revolving around a murder mystery and family chaos.
Presumed Innocent: This Apple series is a great show. It’s a courtroom drama with a mystery. The cast is stellar. And of course the series creator is a legend, Mr. David E. Kelley.
Day of the Jackal : This remake truly deserves your attention. Eddie Redmayne’s performance is nothing short of extraordinary, and I found myself becoming a fan after watching it. The way the plot unfolds and the storytelling throughout each episode are captivating, and the supporting cast contributes immensely to the overall experience. It’s hard not to appreciate the artistry involved in this production.
High Potential: This show is truly a great gem. It’s based on the 2021 French crime show, ‘Haut Potentiel Intellectuel,’ created by Stéphane Carrié, Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, and Nicolas Jean. The show’s star and producer Kaitlin Olson is remarkable. Her character is quick witted, funny and has a unique mind to solve crimes.
HAVOC: Havoc is hands one of the most action packed movies of 2025. Tom Hardy delivered an outstanding performance as always. Timothy Olyphant is as briliant as ever. The movie is non-stop action with a hint of twist and turns.
Mobland: This Paramount show is true Guy Ritchie. Tom Hardy delivers a performance nothing short of spectacular. And lets not forget rest of the cast which includes Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. Their performance on this show remind us why they are truly the greatest.
Justified: Justified is undoubtedly one of the best crime shows ever made. Timothy Olyphant gives a phenomenal performance, embodying the ultimate badass U.S. marshal. The gripping action, unexpected plot twists, and sharp, witty dialogues make this show an absolute gem.
F 1: I watched this movie with high expectations, and it exceeded them brilliantly. Admittedly, I have a slight bias as a Brad Pitt fan, but the plot and cinematography left me in awe. I’m not a critic, but as a viewer, my reaction is simply, “WOW!”

Once in a life
This is a fictional love story, well sort of;
Jax had spent years believing he had things figured out. He woke up at six, brewed strong coffee, worked long hours, and always kept his world neatly organized. Love, he thought, was a story for other people—something he’d read about in books or glimpse in strangers’ smiles on the train. He had grown accustomed to the rhythm of his life: the steady click of his keyboard, the rustling of papers, and the soft hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. Every day felt like a well-scripted play, and Jax was the diligent lead actor, performing his part without deviation or improvisation.

Then one rainy Tuesday, Noemi appeared. She borrowed his umbrella while they waited for their coffees and, somehow, she never returned it—at least, that’s how Jax liked to tell the story. Noemi was a whirlwind—her laughter bright, her heart wide open, her questions unpredictable. She saw colors everywhere he’d seen only gray.
Jax fell fast, bewildered by how easily she tugged him out of his routine. With her, he danced under lamplight and learned the joy of getting caught in the rain. He listened more, worried less, and found himself wanting to linger in every moment instead of rushing to the next.
He had always been someone who planned his days down to the minute, who measured his life in checked boxes and completed tasks. But when she laughed—a sound that seemed to fill the whole room—Jax felt his careful order unravel in the best possible way. She pulled him onto crowded sidewalks and into quiet corners of coffee shops he never would have noticed before. Together, they tried food he couldn’t spell and wandered neighborhoods at midnight, letting curiosity lead them instead of a schedule.

Getting in shape after 40, could be achieved.
Whether we like it or not certain age is considered a milestone. General assumption is 20s to enjoy and party and 30s to build a career and start a life. Ultimately 40s is the gateway to midlife. Yes these are insanely arbitrary nevertheless we buy into the narrative. Now scientifically older we get there are changes and progression that are unavoidable. But that’s not a red flag.
fitness, mental acuity do not inevitably diminish at or after 40. Remaining healthy ar any age is possible.
Turing 40 is a milestone some sees as an indication to slow down, and dare I say decline. It might be a cliché nevertheless age is a state of mind. If we couldn’t get into a better shape after turning 40 then world would have a different reality. Our age is not a deterrent, age is experience. We could achieve greater physical fitness goals and mental acuity at any age.

We’ve all heard, write your own chapters in life. If you are truly determined to be in a better version of you it can be done at any age. Never underestimate the power of your determination. Mindset is the key, that is why focus on your thoughts.

Unity: A Call for Understanding and Compassion
Unity among society we live in today is diminishing. Unity strengthens individuals and communities, fostering collaboration, resilience, and a shared purpose to overcome challenges and achieve greatness. What divide us? Why? Is it simply having a different ideological perspective?
Why ideological differences are so critical to divisiveness. Remember when having a different perspective meant an opportunity to see things from a different angle?
As children we were taught to settle our differences with poise, respect and civility. Nowadays disagreement means ‘you vs. us’. As individuals we are certainly entitled to our opinions and feelings. But does that mean it’s absolute? We are individuals with the ability to think for ourselves. But we can’t certainly think for others. It’s important to remember that Unity can help us bridge those gaps.
Help UkraineWe can be more togetherHow is it possible that we live in a world so beautiful yet humankind continues to be unappreciative, myself included!? We should appreciate and be grateful for everything around us. Fostering an appreciation for diverse perspectives is one way of promoting Unity.

Many of us are focused on ideological differences rather than finding a middle ground. The so-called political leaders continue to feed us their rhetoric instead of demonstrating true leadership. We are better than this. We need Unity more than ever.

Joy in life
Joy in life can take countless shapes and forms. Finding those small, everyday moments of happiness is something we all need. From my own experiences, I’ve learned that these bursts of joy sprinkled throughout our days act like a refreshing mental boost. They are important for our emotions. Yet, many of us start each day feeling the weight of overwhelming responsibilities ahead.
Small joys in life can bring significant happiness and enrich our daily experiences. It could be something as simple as morning Coffee or Tea. The comforting ritual of enjoying your favorite beverage as the day begins. Maybe even listening to our favorite song to find that burst of happiness.
Now, these may seem insignificant when we compare the two to the harshness of surviving life, with its endless challenges and obstacles. But they do contribute significantly to our overall state of being, shaping our perspectives and influencing our emotional well-being. A small kindness or a fleeting moment of joy can actually provide us with a respite from our struggles.
My own experience and perspectiveWaking up every morning with the feeling of being overwhelmed used to be integral to my morning ritual. I used to think that beginning my day in a state of misery was normal, a routine that shaped my mindset for hours ahead. Little did I realize that I was not just starting my day poorly, but rather developing a deeply ingrained habit that clouded my thoughts and drained my energy. This continuous cycle of dread and negativity set a precedent for my daily experiences, making it increasingly difficult to embrace the opportunities each new day offered.

Being on the open road, a long drive can feel like therapy. In my experience, it’s almost as beneficial as therapy. Getting in your car and driving sounds simple, and it is. Aside from an overnight bag, some cash, and great music, you don’t need much more.
Think back to a fun road trip. Maybe it was not exactly how you had planned but it was an experience to remember fondly, isn’t it?
