Sometimes it is a deviation from the plan, where the creative juices and excitement of writing have taken me "off-piste" from my intended plot. It's easy to write yourself into a corner, with the character being in the wrong place or doing the wrong things for the next chapter! In that case I just pause to rework the plot strand.

Other times, you might sit at your desk and words just don't flow! In that case, take a break for an hour or so, then come back. It doesn't happen very often. I avoid writers block by having set hours where I am fresh and ready to write.(less)
