Margot Abbott’s “The Last Innocent Hour” was first published as a hardback in 1991 by St. Martin's Press and as a soft back in 1995. It was translated into several languages. She has been a newspaper columnist, a social studies teacher and a library worker. For the past sixteen years, she has worked as a county clerk in Children Family Services.

Margot was born in Saudi Arabia where her father worked for the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO). She got to travel with her parents all over the world, especially to Italy.

“Don’t you think it’s strange?” I said. He had gotten several feet ahead of me and he stopped and turned.

“What do you mean?”

“That we were children together.” I looked up at his face. “You’re so familiar to me—but not. I see my past in you—but you’re still a stranger.”
Margot Abbott, The Last Innocent Hour

“He was still standing there, looking after me, a shadow except for his white shirtfront and pale head, a stray moonbeam hitting and lighting his golden hair. “I love you, I thought, although I didn’t speak the words. You’re beautiful and I’ll love you forever.”
Margot Abbott, The Last Innocent Hour

“Her dreams, when they came, were not about her dead, beloved brother but were full of shiny water and a goldenhaired boy and menace. Somehow, everything always seemed to come back to him.”
Margot Abbott, The Last Innocent Hour
