I grew up in Alaska, where the wilderness shaped everything — my instincts, my stories, and my characters. I hunted, fished, flew airplanes, guided hunters, and worked on the Alyeska Pipeline and the North Slope oil fields before joining the Anchorage Police Department, where I rose from officer to crime scene technician and detective. Thirteen manuscripts and years of learning the craft later, I believe I finally wrote a story you will want to read too.
The seed for Gold Miner's Daughter was planted in 2015 on Alaska's North Slope. I spent six weeks as a security guard monitoring an ice road on sea ice near Oliktok Point, checking

No doubt a new Reacher book will come out, and rummaging in used book stores, I will find a Clancy novel I haven't read and collected yet.
Chances are, I will revisit a few of my Louis L'Amour collection also. I will meet new authors at writing conferences and find many more books to read. So many books, so little time.

Journey from Ice Road to Published Author:

Picture this: 2015, the frozen wilderness of Alaska's North Slope. I'm sitting in a pickup truck parked on sea ice near Oliktok Point, watching snow whip across the tundra for twelve hours a day. As a security guard for Nana Corporation, I monitored the ice road to Spy Island, checking in with truckers three or four times per shift to ensure their loads stayed within the engineers' safety limits.
