Check it out!  I made this little sketchbook collection with the folks at BLURB.  This just came in last night, and I love the way it turned out.  The cover has a satin finish, and the interior paper is heavy and feels like my actual sketchbook paper.

I’m a huge fan of BLURB and will definitely use them again soon to make more portfolio books to show off my work to clients.

Today is day 2 of rounding up images for my sketchbook book with the folks at Blurb, who offer print-on-demand custom books.  Huge thanks to blurb for sponsoring this project!

I’m going through all of my sketchbooks trying to figure out which pages would be the best in the book.  Once I’ve made my selection, I scan them in, clean them up (only a little) in photoshop and then upload them to the blurb server.  The first time I used Blurb I think I uploaded an InDesign document, but today I’m using their built-in book design software and it’s way easier.

They have a bunch of different formats and sizes, including magazines and hard cover books and I was tempted to do a really HUGE book at first.  In the end, I decided to go with their 7x7 photo book, which is only a little bit bigger than my actual sketchbooks.

Once I drop in all of the images, I’ll need to make a new cover (blurb has a wrap-around image option or a dust jacket), and then it’ll be a wrap.  

The awesome folks at #blurbbooks have asked me to put together a little book for them and I immediately said yes.  I’ve been using them for years to print my promo books that I take with me to meetings or trade shows.  Here’s a recent one I made with them:

Since I already had a recent portfolio book, I decided I’d go through my sketchbooks to find all of the random doodle pages.  Over the next few days I’ll be compiling those together into a little book that I’ll print through Blurb.  If you’re not familiar with Blurb, the print on-demand books!  Their quality is excellent (I’m really picky about paper and color!).

So, today I spent the morning scanning in tons of pages from my sketchbooks.
