Our sales were flagging, we were bringing on terrible customers, and everything we tried to improve the situation wasn't working.

To get to the root of the problem I studied my business. I analyzed my business, my customers, and my market, and the findings shocked me. It wasn't our sales guys or sales processes that were failing, it was our brand.

To turn around the business we rebranded the company: a new name, new positioning, a new approach. Within 9 months of the rebrand the business turned the corner, and from then on the phone rang constantly with new customers. In fact, our brand drove all of our business development.

The experience was a wake up call. It taught me to succeed in this marketplace requires a new approach. It also triggered a deep passion for branding, and I conducted a decade long study on how small- and mid-sized companies grow incredible brands.

The book draws from my initial experience rebranding my family's business, and then incorporates my extensive research into SMB branding. I have distilled this expertise into a branding playbook for business owners, marketers, sales people, and professionals of small to mid-sized companies.(less)
