D.S. Cahr has been a writer, a musician, a music journalist, a columnist for Punk Planet, an occasional contributor to McSweeney's, an intellectual property attorney, a blogger, and the type of annoying person who dresses up in movie-accurate costumes for Star Wars conventions. He is the author of The Secret Root and Time to Change. More importantly, Cahr is currently hard at work on book three of "The Mesh Chronicles."

A really wonderful story on every level. Of course, the fact that I so closely identify with Nick (down to the bass playing) may have added to the resonance.... (less)

Big news! I woke up extremely early this morning and wrote the final epilogue in the last and final volume of The Secret Root trilogy! The story now has an ending! If all goes well I should have a full first draft completed by early in the new year, and publish late next year. I had been averaging 7 years of writing for the prior two books, and this will be 8, but as long as I beat George R.R. Mar

“We should never become so enamored with the future that we forget the value of the past.

Alyssa Rosenberg”
D.S. Cahr

“The things you do with your friends are shared memories, thought Edie. You never fully remember the details of your life’s experiences yourself; you need your friends to fill in the gaps to completely experience the memory. Otherwise the depth and power of that memory gets lost to the passage of time.”
D.S. Cahr, The Secret Root

“I got my heart's desire, and there my troubles began.”
Lev Grossman, The Magicians

“We never look beyond our assumptions and, what’s worse, we have given up trying to meet others; we just meet ourselves. We don’t recognize each other because other people have become our permanent mirrors.”
Muriel Barbery, The Elegance of the Hedgehog

“Do you ever feel,” she says to Jane, “like you’re trapped in the wrong version of your life?”
Kristin Cashore, Jane, Unlimited
