A Sneak Peek

The first character that came to was Felix, a young boy ostracized by his peers, mocked and bullied for being different or an outsider. It was a concept I could relate to having been bullied for being weird and different when I was in school. Now, what was his world like? What made him so different?

I came up with Aiya next, a sort of mentor like character, someone who watched Felix from the shadows and came in when he needed help. She was easy to name and with her came all kinds of stories and ideas. Mixing her with Felix just felt right.

Then came the world, what was Stone Shadows? At first, it was an organization that worked to train magicians so they would become fighters in the ongoing conflict with Ne'ven Altair. Slowly, it evolved into a school as I added Micos Synn and his younger sister Kyra.

What about the knights? I've always had a fascination with medieval lore and stories. Knights sounded fun, magical knights. Was I becoming a bit too much like Black Clover? I had been watching that a lot lately. Magic knights, sure. What if there was a prophecy?

I've always been drawn to the chosen one stories. I grew up with The Dark is Rising series and The Keys to the Kingdom. These stories had a chosen one and I considered making Felix my chosen one. But it didn't quite fit him. So, instead, I made multiple people chosen, twelve chosen knights.

I wrote a list of the characters and ideas I had for each. Then, I wrote a short story of the knights of the previous generation. If I could figure them out, I could write about those that came after. So I did. For years, I poured myself into this story, melded with all of the characters.

I am so excited to share this story with everyone. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Debut

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to write, to share my stories. Stories of every kind were always fascinating to me and drew me in. I started writing at a young age, age ten, I believe. I remember holding the notebook I got from my grandparents, sitting on the stone steps of their front porch, watching my siblings and cousins run around the yard, and trying to write the story I saw in my mind. Putting the pencil to the page was scary but exciting and as I named my first main protagonist, Chloe, I felt this pull to always keep writing.

I wasn't very good when I was young but I was always eager to learn. I spent the majority of my life putting words on paper. Through middle school and high school, I carried notebooks with me to classes that were specifically for writing. When there was a lull in class or a break, I would pull the notebook out and continue where I left off. Sometime, it wasn't the appropriate time and I would either receive a reprimand or have the notebook taken until the end of class. It's ironic that, instead of crying over my electronics being taken for punishments, I would feel devastated when my mother took away all of my notebooks when I got in trouble.

Yet, I kept writing. Every day through high school and college. Even in college, I would type away on my laptop during classes and wrote the first story I wanted to publish. Of course, someone I knew tore the whole thing to shreds when I asked for feedback and told me I was a terrible writer. I put that story away and I haven't touched it since because of how discouraged I was.

Then, I started The Prophecy of the Twelve and I told myself that I would have it published by the end of 2025. I worked tirelessly on it, up all night just to finish chapters or revise sentences. I was committed. It was all I saw in my waking hours and began to leak its way into my dreams. I finally finished it and gave it to my test readers. I told them to tear it to pieces because I wanted to make it the best story I could and they sparred me no insult.

Finally, it was ready. I am so excited to share this story with everyone. Whether you like it or hate it, I am grateful that you read it. My debut story releases on the 21st of November and I couldn't be happier.
