When Light Chooses You

Marked by Light, the Soul awakens. Not to glory, but to service and truth. It does not choose the perfect — but the willing. It doesn’t whisper. It burns. T

o be chosen by the Light is to remember that you were always meant to shine.

Let’s be honest: being chosen sucks. At least at first. There’s this myth that when you're "called" to some great destiny—especially one soaked in ancient prophecy and swaddled in cosmic significance—you’ll feel empowered, luminous, ready to charge into glory with a sword in one hand and divine fire in the other. But the truth? You feel small. Angry. Betrayed. And maybe worst of all—you start losing faith. The Burden of the Chosen

No one tells you that being the “one” doesn’t come with fanfare—it comes with fallout.

The sacred realm you're supposed to restore? Fallen. Remembered only as legend. Its people scattered, its history sunk in lore. The crystal you must recover? In the hands of the unknown .

And the sacred light you're supposed to rekindle?

Dims when the people of your community ostracizes you because of who you dare to stand beside.

Befriending the Outcaste

You never expect to be hated for love.

But the moment you break bread with the outcastes—the people written out of history, the ones blamed for the fall, shunned for their strange rites and older gods—you become a target.

Not just of whispers but of fear.

Fear from your own people, as if compassion is corruption. As if their purity is more important than your purpose.

You don’t know what’s worse: that they reject you, or that deep down, you understand why they do.

Because you’re starting to question everything too.

When the Ancient Evil Wakes

And then the darkness doesn’t just creep in - it rises.

Worshippers of the ancient enemy begin to crawl out from the hidden corners of the land. The forgotten cults return. Blood rituals echo in the forest. The crystal’s absence is felt as reality changes to the bizarre.

The fallen kingdom of light that once held the realm together? Again is the target of the dark’s hunger for power.

And you’re expected to lead. To heal. To believe. To restore the sacred realm.

How do you when you have no idea what’s real and what’s legend?

The Collapse Before the Calling

Here’s the thing no one tells you about prophecy:

Before it elevates you, it breaks you.

Not everyone is meant to survive the calling. Not everyone wants to. It exposes you. The innocence you once carried , is a virtue that carries you forward, but leaves you at a disadvantage for being naive. It cracks your courage and limits your hope.

You begin to understand why saviors go silent. Why so many chose exile, madness, or martyrdom. Why the heroes in the old tales weren’t always noble—they were just... tired.

Like you are now.

But Here's What the Dark Fears

Not your perfection. Not your faith.

What the ancient evil fears —is that you now exist. What was once a prophecy, is now a reality. Your existence, your knowledge of the outcastes and the wisdom they hold, threatens its power.

It fears you. You’re real. Human. Awake. Not some gleaming statue on a pedestal, but a vessel holding light.

And that light? The one inside you that’s barely a spark?

That’s all it ever takes to burn down a god.

Final Thoughts from the Ashes

You might not restore the sacred realm overnight.

You might not find the crystal until it’s nearly too late. You might lose more than you save. You might become a legend written in ash.

But let it be said—you didn’t turn away.

You befriended the forsaken. You faced the lies disguised as law. You stood as one willing to remember why it mattered.

And maybe—just maybe—that's the real restoration.

Free Will or Fate?

The Power of Choice

"May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right." - Peter Marshall

A Look at Free Will vs. Fate

The battle between free will and fate lies at the heart of Devin’s journey. From the moment he learns he is destined to restore a fallen realm, he faces the question: Is his path already written, or does he have the power to shape his own future?

The Weight of Prophecy

His life changes when he’s thrust into a world where a prophecy dictates the course of a realm.  Or does it? The prophecy places an enormous burden on his shoulders as a teenage boy from a country farm. He did not choose this destiny—it chose for him.  So how much  control does he truly have over his fate?

Is he really gifted to be able to restore a fallen kingdom shrouded in darkness or is he bound by belief at a set of words ? Is he truly the Son of Prophecy? How does he handle the changes descending on his life? Is his identity now shaped by external forces or his personal desires and fears? And along with this struggle, Devin’s own curiosity beckons on exploring what lies within himself as this secret gift, conflicting with him wanting to have the life of a regular boy.

Moments of Choice

While the prophecy tells of a destiny, Devin is not a passive character swept along by fate. He’s given  moments where his choices matter deeply. Whether it is deciding whom to trust, whether to embrace his powers, or how to navigate alliances, Devin consistently confronts decisions that alter his path.

These moments reinforce the understanding that while fate may outline a path, free will determines how one walks it. Devin’s ability to question, resist, and ultimately embrace his role shows that destiny is not a rigid script but a framework that allows for individual agency.

The Tension Between Obligation and Freedom

A key conflict is the tension between what Devin must do versus what he wants to do. The prophecy demands he walk the path of a new reality and  stand against a rising darkness, but he longs for a life where his choices are his own. This resonates with anyone who has felt torn between duty and personal freedom.

This tension is what shapes Devin’s identity. Each decision he makes either brings him closer to accepting his destiny or resisting it. This balance between obligation and freedom underscores the central question and define the paths laid out for all of us.

Conclusion

Devin’s story weaves a compelling and interesting question that doesn’t provide easy answers to the debate between free will and fate. Though his  journey brings to the forefront that while fate may present opportunities or challenges, it is our choices that define who we are and what we become.

For any willing to explore free will versus fate, it is both thought-provoking and deeply human. It reminds us that even when life seems governed by forces beyond our control, our decisions have the power to shape our destiny.

We’ve all been at this juncture at some point in our own lives and only in looking back, do we realize which one was answered.

What event in your own life would you say was fate and which did you choose free will? Or are you still stuck in indecision and waiting for the decision to be made for you? Whichever you decided on - was what dictated the ensuing events that followed. :)

Drop me a line and share. I love hearing from you.

Staying The Course

No one is born a writer. In fact, your never cease becoming because you never stop learning how to write. Even now, I’m becoming a writer, and so are you. - Joe Bunting

When I began writing Son of Prophecy, I had no idea I was embarking on a journey to complete a novel. It started as an outpouring of trauma—a way to process the darkness I was going through and how it affected me. I didn’t study writing or story structure. I wasn’t following a blueprint from a writing class or a YouTube tutorial. The story emerged organically, leading me through itself in unexpected ways.

At first, I wrote without realizing I had begun in the middle. I found myself working outward—both forward and backward—sometimes writing freely without a plan, other times carefully plotting the next steps. It was far from the traditional writing process so often preached to aspiring authors. Yet, through it all, there was an innate knowing that the story was alive, pulling me deeper and revealing itself one piece at a time. There were moments when I felt like a conduit rather than a creator—as though the story had chosen me to bring it into the world. And that sense of surrender, of trusting something greater than myself, became a guiding force through the most uncertain stretches of the process.

If there’s one thing I would tell anyone starting their writing journey, it’s this: slow down and listen. Don’t rush to charge ahead or force the story into existence. Take the time to savor each step. Pay attention to the characters and ideas that emerge. Ask yourself how they add depth and meaning to the whole. Writing is not just about putting words on a page—it’s about being present with the story as it unfolds. Some parts will come easily, like a flood that demands to be released, while others will resist you, asking for patience and stillness before they reveal themselves. Every writer's process is unique, and by allowing your story to guide you, you begin to uncover your voice, style, and the themes that call to you.

It takes courage to keep writing when there are no guarantees of success. You pour your heart, your soul, and hours of your life into a world no one else can see—at least not yet. There are days when doubt creeps in, whispering that it isn’t good enough or that no one will care. And yet, you write anyway. Because something inside you knows the act itself is worth it. The words matter. Even if they only reach one person who needs them, the journey is not in vain.

Feedback is valuable, but your relationship with the story matters most. Stay connected to what is blossoming on the page. There will be moments when the story pours out effortlessly and others when it needs distance to breathe. Sometimes you will need to step away; other times, you must buckle down and refine what you have. Like panning for gold, the process involves sifting through detours and fluff until the true nuggets of the story shine through. This work is not for the faint of heart, but for those willing to keep digging, the rewards—both tangible and intangible—are priceless.

Writing is a solitary act of devotion. It requires pouring your heart, soul, and energy into the work, even when no one is watching. But it is also an act of discovery. Through the act of writing, you come to know yourself—your hopes, your fears, your truths—in ways you never expected. With patience and persistence, patterns emerge, and the hours spent crafting your world become undeniably worth it. There may never be external validation in the form of accolades or best-seller status, but the internal reward—the knowledge that you gave life to something that once only existed in your mind—is beyond measure.

Find what works for you—whether it’s writing in a quiet room, taking inspiration from nature, or jotting notes in a bustling cafe. There is no universal method, only what resonates with you. And when you take the time to listen to the whispers of your story, you will arrive at its most authentic and powerful version. The creative process is not about forcing outcomes—it is about allowing the story to emerge as it is meant to. Trust that what you are creating has value, even if the world has not yet seen it.

So, to anyone just beginning their writing journey: trust yourself. Trust the process. The story is already inside you, waiting to be heard. All you have to do is listen and follow where it leads. Even on the hardest days, when progress feels slow and the finish line is nowhere in sight, remember—every word you write brings you closer. And that alone is worth it.

The Adventure Begins…

Come Walk With Me ….

Curiosity is a many-edged sword. And I had it in abundance. Little did I know that my need for answers would unravel the very fabric of the life I knew, thrusting me into a journey unlike anything I could have ever imagined.

What would you do if, in a moment of fate—you released a prophecy foretelling your own destiny? A destiny tied not just to your own future, but to an entire Realm lost to time, shrouded in shadow, waiting to be restored.

Would you run from it? Deny it? Or would you dare to step forward, knowing that to embrace such a fate means walking the knife’s edge between power and peril, hope and despair?

The weight of a forgotten kingdom presses upon my soul. The path ahead is uncertain, riddled with secrets, dangers, and betrayals. But the prophecy has been spoken. And now, there is no turning back.

You thought you were just reading a book.

A simple story to pass the time. Words on a page. But what if it was more? What if the ink whispered secrets meant only for you? What if, as your eyes traced the lines, a long-dormant prophecy awakened—one that had been waiting for the right reader?

Waiting for you.

Would you believe it? Could you?

Perhaps it sounds impossible. After all, your life has been ordinary. Safe. Predictable. You were raised on stories your grandfather told, the kind told under the full moon’s nights. Legends of spirits that walk between worlds, of unseen forces that bind the fates of men. Tales of a forgotten kingdom, lost beyond the hills, where magic still lingers in the breath of the wind.

But they were just stories… weren’t they?

Until one came alive.

And you realized that the village you grew up in—so small, so simple—was merely a veil between you and something much greater.

A kingdom forgotten. A destiny unknown. A path written in the stars long before you ever took your first breath.

But fate is never so kind as to simply hand you what is yours. The price of awakening is steep. Innocence does not last in a world where magic is real. Those you called friends may turn against you. Those you trusted may fear what you are becoming. And those who fear you may seek to destroy you before you uncover the truth.

You stand at the edge of the unknown, where the past and future collide, where myth and reality blur. You have a choice—to turn away and forget, or to step forward into the storm of fate and claim the power what has always been yours.

But be warned: once you begin, there is no turning back.

So tell me—will you answer the call? Will you let the prophecy unfold?

Or will you walk away, and believe it was just another story in a book you happened to read?

Stay tuned as we walk into the unknown as destiny beckons…

How It All Began…

A Walk Down Memory Lane

The Story Begins……

One ordinary afternoon, sitting in my son’s allergist's office, a nature magazine caught my eye. Amidst the sea of publications, this one called to me. As I flipped through its pages, I felt an unexpected enchantment wash over me with its soothing images - an escape from an otherwise routine day.

An image of a lush forest, with criss-crossed logs covered with an ancient carpet of greenery that whispered secrets. The scene transported me to a place of tranquility and wonder as I stared at a majestic tree in the Yucatan Peninsula, its roots hanging down like ropes into a large cave below. The tree's resilience and mystery inspired a profound emotional response within me.

In that moment, a surge of inspiration poured through - as if the scene in the picture, deep within the cave, looking up at the opening above was in essence the light not only pouring into me, but re-lighting the flame within. The darkness I had been walking through and wanting to express the pain and suffering I had endured - I began scribbling on the little notepad I had in my pocketbook.

Despite my attempts to write about the evil that had invaded my life, the story kept transforming into something pure and beautiful. My sons' eager eyes and encouraging words pushed me to continue. "Write your story, mom. I'll see it in the AR List," (Accelerated Reader) one of them said, and that became my secret joy as I got lost in the pages as Devin was born.

Drawing from childhood memories and the tales my grandfather told, the flavors of village life and eccentricities that thrived there, filled the blank pages as my writing progressed.

My mother once said I didn’t have dark in me, so I couldn’t write evil." Her words resonated deeply and over the years, through countless revisions and moments of inspiration, "Son of Prophecy" began to take shape.

With the support and encouragement of a dear friend, Son of Prophecy has finally emerged into the light and a message for any walking through their own times of trials.

The Light is always there - not only at the end of the tunnel but within it, walking alongside us even in our darkest moments. Each of us is a Son or Daughter of Light inside. Reclaim your own realm of Love and Happiness, and live inspired, no matter the shadows that tries to dim your sunshine.

Stay tuned for the next post in The Adventure Begins….
