Anne Manera When I was a kid I spent lots of time drawing and writing stories. While other kids were playing I could be found in my room writing and illustrating …moreWhen I was a kid I spent lots of time drawing and writing stories. While other kids were playing I could be found in my room writing and illustrating my newest story. My first illustrated story was about a dog done as a child. I continued to draw and write but only for my own pleasure. Fast forward to 2011. It was the first day of my thesis class to complete a masters degree in art. Suddenly my best dog friend was so sick . Three days later she died of kidney failure. I was beyond devastated. I felt as if life stopped. But I needed to finish my thesis. I also needed to pick an additional class to fulfill the necessary credits. My advisor told me to create anything I wanted. I didn't even have to think ... I would honor Georgia with a story of her life in the best way I could -- write and illustrate a book ! Biscuits,Balls & Bones - a dog's search for happiness was born. Then I looked at my other dogs and realized they needed a book too! Eat,Sleep,Wag-a dogs gratitude journal features Willi and A Dog, a toad & a Picnic - a dog's tail of friendship tells Autumn's story. There are so many more stories inside me that need to be written and lots of dogs to honor. Thanks for taking the time to ask such a great question.
