Is Ecumenism a Good Thing?
While I agree that unification is probably a very good thing, and I agree that the body of Christ should be united in our belief system, I have to ask myself if it would indeed be possible.
Taking into consideration the many "divisions" within Christendom that already exist, one has to wonder just how we could accomplish the goal of this ecumenical drive, and if we were to accomplish it, what the final product would look like.
I believe that the starting point would have to be the 5 "core doctrines" that were agreed upon in Christian committee meetings early in the 1900's by every Christian denomination, and published in "The Fundamentals of the Faith" in 1909. If we could agree that these 5 core doctrines were essential beliefs that were necessary for us to believe in order to call ourselves "Christian," then that would be a great start.
However, there are so many "divisions" of Christianity that, somewhere along the line, have chosen to deviate from these 5 core doctrines, which are:
1. The Trinity---God is one Being, having 3 facets of personality, (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) and each facet of His personality has all the attributes of Deity.
2. The Person of Jesus Christ---Jesus Christ is both man and God, and as a man, lived a sinless life, doing the will of His Father. Jesus Christ is both man and God for all of eternity.
3. The Second Coming---Jesus Christ will return to Earth in order to rule and judge mankind.
4. Salvation---We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone---not by any works we can do here on Earth.
5. The Bible---The Bible is the infallible, inerrant, Holy Spirit-inspired Word of God, and is sufficient as the only authority and guide to living the Chistian life.
So---if these 5 core doctrines that were agreed upon so long ago are the "building blocks" or "foundation" of the true Christian faith, then why are so many denominations deviating from them? Also, since they are deviating from them so drastically, whose doctrinal banner are we to unite under?

The Judas Epidemic
There certainly are quite a lot things are being taught in so-called “Christian” churches these days that don’t even closely resemble the long-held Christian beliefs that the Christian church was founded upon. Don’t we have to ask ourselves why that is? Have you wondered about it? Were you aware of it?
Fact is, that many of the most respected and in many cases, revered Christian leaders of our current day are teaching and preaching a “false gospel” in many mainline denominational churches—a “man-centered” gospel that focuses on individual self-fulfillment and “social justice” issues, instead of Christ-centered, self-denial teachings, which is what the true gospel of Christ Is really all about.
These prominent “Christial leaders” teach these obviously false doctrines for a myriad of reasons, but mainly because they choose to “pander” instead of teaching truth. They would rather “tickle the ears” of their congregants, because it keeps attendance and revenue up; teaching truth can sometimes feel harsh to listeners, and many become offended by the truth, and leave the church, and that just won’t help get the church mortgage paid, will it.
The Judas Epidemic: Exposing the Betrayal of the Christian faith in Church and Government, will address these issues pointedly for you, and show you very clearly why those who teach these heresies are sinning in the extreme, and why you should separate yourself from them.
The Truth of the Matter
Have you ever asked yourself why there are so many different denominations within Chri Ever wonder what being a Christian really means? How about what real Christian doctrine is according to the Bible?
Have you ever asked yourself why there are so many different denominations within Christendom? Should there even be divisions?
These are all great questions---but where would you be able to find the answers---good, sound, Biblical answers?
I am starting this blog to serve those who are asking these types of questions about the Christian faith. Let's face it---I think we have all asked a few of these questions before, if only in our minds.
Here is a forum where we can openly discuss these matters respectfully and honestly. I hope that you decide to take advantage of this opportunity---I know you will enjoy it as much as I will!
Come now, and let us reason together about all things Christian!
