I grew up in Britton, South Dakota. In 1986 I earned my first BS in Accounting from Black Hills State University. Later I completed a BS in Elementary & Middle School education from Sioux Falls University and Hamline University. My masters degree in education is from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. From 1992-1999 I owned and operated a fine arts school in Sioux Falls, SD where we taught vocals, piano, drama and six styles of dance. In August 1999, my family and I packed up and moved to Minnesota where I began teaching middle school at Chisago Lakes. My husband(full-time fire fighter in Richfield, MN) and I have four children. Chapter 3 - Just a taste of the Losing Grip sequel - Hanging by a Thread

Chapter 3
September turned into October and sporting events and Homecoming became the focus of school and the community. Busy doesn’t even cover my life. With cross country and my Homecoming duties, I didn’t even notice that Becky Miles, my nemesis since second grade, was keeping her distance. I can’t help wondering if maybe she’s afraid that Monte will blow her up too if she comes near me.

Angela Bennett I wanted to tell you how much Leah is enjoying your book. I've never been able to get her to read -- ever. She has carried your book around and read every minute she got. It's taken the whole first semester for her get through it (she struggles so with reading), but I'm thrilled that she's actually wanting to read now. I bought her a Kindle and I'm hoping she will continue. Do you have any suggestions of more books you think she would enjoy?

Your book is a great book for girls to read. You're quite the inspiration. Teaches them to be strong and overcome things that can happen to them. Bad things that happen to them don't have to define their lives or who they are. It probably wasn't easy for you to write the book, but think of all the girls you've probably helped.
