R.M. Whitaker grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where her imagination bloomed in blanket forts and pillow palaces as she and her sisters crafted stories to keep themselves entertained on rainy days.

When she's not writing, you'll usually find her gardening, experimenting with sourdough starter and other cultured foods, tackling some DIY project that's way beyond her capability, or wrestling goats on her mom's hobby farm.

She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband Patrick, daughter Bonnie, a feisty Boston Terrier named Jasper, and an exceptionally long gray tabby cat named Simon.
