Giveaway End
Dear Readers,
Last week I offered my novel, Far From The Windmills of Home, in a giveaway that was open to all the Goodreads community. Although you may not have won my book, you can still buy a copy.
I enjoyed writing the story because it celebrates all the good that comes from perseverance and hard work. It's a story of maturation and unselfish love.
I'd be delighted to keep in touch. Please follow me on Goodreads to get the latest on upcoming novels.
Happy reading,
Rusty Watson

Far From the Windmills of Home
My Historical Fiction novel number three is actively being printed now! I am so excited to offer Far From the Windmills of Home in both print and ebook.
Far From the Windmills of Home is the bittersweet tale of a young monk, destined to fail but determined to overcome.
Like a dancing puppet attached to the strings of its master, Joannes is manipulated across the stage of Life only to eventually gather the courage to cut the bonds which hold him back from success. He discovers that his quest is to find love and approval, not merely for what he has done but for the possibility of who he is. These are the truths that bind together this seven-year love story out of a splintered tale of cause and effect.
Stay tuned. I will be hosting a giveaway soon!

On the Road Again
"On the Road Again" was a song written and made famous by Willie Nelson. Perhaps you remember it, back in the day? Since the book launch of Journey Through the Half-Door, I have been "on the road again, presenting and signing books.
It is a good thing I am retired, or I wouldn't have the time nor stamina. I am grateful for the opportunities to share my stories and I have been lucky to make new friends along the way.
No matter what the media announce, I have discovered there are many people who love to read! Here's to those of us who covet a good novel, a comfortable chair to read it in and the time to get lost in the story! Cheers!

The Idler
I was participating as the "book of the month" in a local book club when an enthusiastic lady came up to me afterward and whispered, "Do you still have all the love letters Jeremiah wrote to Charity? I loved reading them!"
I replied the letters were made up, by me, and fictional. She looked so sad and disappointed but inside of my mind I was doing a "YES, this is what creative writing is all about!" What a wonderful tribute and one instance I will never forget!

The Idler
My mom and aunt found an old copy of their great grandfather's (Jeremiah Watts) whaling journal when sifting through an assortment of artifacts in a relatives basement. Something made my mother pick up the tattered papers and begin reading the odd script on the page.
I remember her telling me that she had an overwhelming feeling that she needed to tell the story! She noticed that Jeremiah had started writing the first chapter about the snares and pitfalls he encountered during the four years (1845-49) he was on the whaling vessel.
Of course, like so many of us, life gets in the way of creativity and doing what we want to do, so the manuscript was never finished. Jeremiah's story was never told.
After my mother's passing, I revisited the journal once again and felt the desire to continue the search for Jeremiah's voice. While I didn't know a lot about Jeremiah, I knew from his journal entries he was the type of person I would have liked, if I had met him.
It took me over two years to research and write about his adventures and the dire warnings he hoped to share with the coming generations.
Jeremiah was a boy of real flesh and bones, with the same youthful dreams and wishes we all experience. I enjoyed bringing his story to light. I hope he approves!
