Gerold Späth ist ein Schweizer Schriftsteller. Gerold Späth ist in eine Orgelbauerdynastie in Rapperswil hineingeboren. Nach der Sekundarschule absolvierte er eine Lehre als Kaufmann. Späth arbeitete bis 1975 im Familienbetrieb. 1970 erschien sein Debütroman «Unschlecht». Seither hat er unzählige Romane, Erzählungen, Hörspiele und Theaterstücke verfasst – viele davon tragen sich in Rapperswil zu: «Rapperswil ist der Raum, in dem meine Geschichten wohnen, hier bin ich aufgewachsen, hier habe ich die Übersicht und die Durchsicht», so Späth. Späth wohnt heute nicht nur in Rapperswil, sondern auch in Irland und Italien.
