Elisabeth Hyde is the author, most recently, of GO ASK FANNIE, winner of the 2019 Colorado Book Award in General Fiction. She has also written five other critically acclaimed novels, including IN THE HEART OF THE CANYON, a NY Times Editor’s Choice and a People Magazine Great Read. As of today, I would recommend Tom Lake, by Ann Patchett, and Trust, by Hernan Diaz. I just finished both and loved them. Tom Lake is both quiet and profound, a family drama that touches on mother-daughter relations, artistic ambition, and marital commitment. Trust is a twisty, turn-y novel whose 2d section will puzzle you until you get to the 3d. Lots said about fabricating a persona in the financial world of the 1920s, along with the unbelievable sexism that existed back then. Good luck! Hope all is well with the family!
