Michael Leon spent seventeen years behind the console as a 911 dispatcher and emergency communications specialist in New York, coordinating police, fire, and EMS during some of the worst days of other people’s lives. After leaving the profession due to job-related PTSD, he shifted his focus to advocacy, teaching, and the ethical use of technology in public safety. His work now centers on dispatcher wellness, systems reform, and how tools like AI can support—not replace—the humans on the headset.
He lives in New York with his family and continues to write, speak, and consult on reimagining 911.
