Tar On Butterflly Beach

CoupleAtSunsetAs you know, my first novel is “Love On Butterfly Beach.” This is the beach where my boyfriend and I love to walk. Two nights ago we decided to go for a walk after dark. (That image is not of us.)

It was beautiful. A crescent moon lit up the surf, the tide was out, and no one else was on the beach. We were in heaven.

Then Stephen suggested we go further out and get our feet wet. The tide had gone out so we were just standing on the very wet sand. He wrapped his arms around me and we just watched the surf.

When we walked back to the car he felt something sticky. He said, “I think I have some tar on my foot.” He turned on the flashlight on his iPhone and looked at the bottom of his feet.

It was covered, I mean covered, with tar. I looked at mine and the same thing. In all the years we’ve walked on that beach, that’s never happened. Only occasionally will we get a big glob of tar. Never anything like this.

The problem was, how do we get home with all that on our feet? Well, I keep plastic bags in my car so we put a bag on each foot and got in the car. At home we slid through the house in our plastic bags. I got the olive oil and a knife. We worked on our feet in the bathroom until we got it all off.

Even though it was a big mess, and it took a lot of time to get ourselves cleaned up, we decided it was worth it because the evening out on the sand was so magical.

Wishing you lots of romantic moments,

LusciousSig

This Takes Stalking To New Heights

My upcoming novel has a stalker in it. That’s all I’ll say because I don’t want to ruin anything for you when you finally get to read it.

But I saw this story on the Bing news feed (at the bottom of those glorious images) and I had to share it here.

The woman in this story shows how obsessed some people can become over someone who isn’t interested in them. Take a look here:

Crazy, huh?

It’s Best To Choose You

Couple Playing AroundI love to read. Actually, so much so, that I’ve wished there were two of me. One who read twenty-four hours a day, who would send the info over to the other me, that was out there doing life.

But alas, there’s only me. One way I get my reading in is to always have an audio book in my car. Today, I was listening to a very fun read, London Is the Best City In America, by Laura Dave. The protagonist, Emmie, said something really profound and I wanted to share it with you here.

She said––not an exact quote, “When choosing between two people, it’s not the people you need to choose between, it’s choosing which version of you you want to be.”

That makes total sense because each person we have a relationship with, whether it’s a romantic relationship, or a girlfriend, or anyone else, we show up a little bit different with each.

So choose who you most like and enjoy being, and you’ll be happy.

Every good novel offers lessons about life that can be taken into our hearts so we can become better people.

To great reading,

LusciousSig

It’s Like a Beauty Pageant

ButterflyBeachWhite187x299My first novel, Love On Butterfly Beach, is out with my beta readers.

I’m happy with the story I’ve written. I like my characters so much they feel like they’ve become my friends. I like the plot, and how the outside and internal issues get resolved. And the sexy parts are pretty darned steamy.

But having others read my ‘baby’ is like putting it out on stage for everyone to judge. It’s exciting and unnerving at the same time.

While it’s out there being judged, I’ve been working on the next book, Love On Montecito Peak.

The first story started with a clean slate. Nothing but the story that evolved in my heart and mind.

Writing the second story feels very different. That’s because it grew out of the first story, with the characters that are introduced in the first book.

It’s a fascinating path to write a new story that will stand on it’s own. What I mean by that is you won’t have to read the first story to know what’s going on. The tricky part are the threads that connect to the first.

Looks like the publication date for Love On Butterfly Beach will be November 5th.

I’ll keep you posted…
