Books to pick up before summer ends.

We all have our favorite books, but certain stories grab a hold of me and consume my thoughts long after I finish them. If I can't stop thinking about a story line or a character, I know the book is special. So here are the ones that refused to release me this summer and I highly recommend you check out! My summaries will be brief and to the point.
My personal favorite: Slammed by Colleen Hoover. This book is an emotional journey that follows 21 year old Will (swoon), and 18 year old Layken as they struggle with the many obstacles life throws at them. Beyond the heart pounding romance, there is wonderful advice flowing from the pages. Lives are changed, lessons learned, and love found. This is an incredible read! note: I can no longer listen to The Avett Brothers without hearing Will and Lake's story in the lyrics!
So after you read Slammed, follow this up with the sequel, appropriately named, Point of Retreat. This begins where Slammed ends and is told from Will's POV. It's a beautiful conclusion you will not want to miss out on.
All right, so if you are looking for more romance, next pick up Easy by Tammara Webber. This book opens with college student, Jacqueline, being brutally attacked by someone she trusted. In swoops Lucas to rescue her and pummel said attacker. Jacqueline is drawn to Lucas, but her hero has secrets. Trust and honesty isn't easy for these two, but the love that grows between them is. This is a moving story that will affect you past the final page.
My final romance recommendation is Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. What can I say about this book? It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. When wannabe good girl, Abby, meets bad boy player, Travis, both of their lives get turned upside down. Travis reminds Abby of the past she's trying to forget. Abby appears to have no interest in Travis' sexcapades. Yet, these two are drawn together. Friendship, romance, and heartbreak entangle this damaged pair. I've read this book 4 times because I just could not get enough!
Last, but definitely not least, is paranormal romance, Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi. I made the mistake of borrowing this from the library and promptly purchased it after I finished. Oh, this book. It is so beautifully written! Poetic and touching, Shatter Me will have you hooked from the very first page. Juliette has not had physical contact in 264 days because her touch is deadly. Enter the boy. The Reestablishment thinks she's a weapon. Adam doesn't agree. Their journey takes many twists and turns that had me longing for more.
Each of these stories affected me in some way and I hope you can take something from them as well. Happy reading!
