I really hope “Pinupocalypse” gets more than a limited six-issue run. It’s a weirdly perfect mashup of Grease, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Walking Dead, and issue #1 was way more fun than I expected it to be.

On her eighteenth birthday, 1950s dream girl (Foxy) ends up in a zombie apocalypse with only a greaser chick (Roxy) at her side.

[idea, story, and art by Andrew Tarusov; co-written with Brendan Jones; Massive Publishing, January 2025]

3. Hazel English - Real Life

4. Soft Kill - Escape Forever

“Hallows’ Eve” (Marvel, 2023, 5 issues) came out of the “Dark Web” arc in the Amazing Spider-Man and is the best miniseries I’ve read this year. It’s an anithero tale with a classic-horror twist thanks to an innovative new superpower. Written by Erica Schultz, with art by Michael Dowling and colors by Brian Reber.
