Writer Inspiration

I just finished writing a chapter in my new book, Christmas with the Cowboy (publishing next year) where my two former love birds bump into each other in small town bakery. I won't tell you why it's such a surprise, but I will say it's totally delicious and completely heartwarming!

While I was writing, something out of the blue came to me, my son's "Don't Forget to Kiss the Cook" apron. He wanted to be a chef when he was a little guy (he's now attending law school). No guessing about how my subconscious developed that;) There's a darling little boy in this story and he loves to help his mama in the bakery. I figured he'd wear an apron. One of his own design makes it even better. And he's got some serious panache for decorating holiday doughnuts. Thank you Krispy Kreme for helping visualize what this kid would want to decorate.

I guess it's just part of the writing magic, but I tuck memories into my stories all the time. If you'd like to see more, especially of my boys when they were little, check out Paradise Beach. It's FREE and a great lead-in to the rest of the series, Paradise Shore and Paradise Cove.

Chapter 7 is in the Books!

I just finished writing chapter 7 of my new Christmas cowboy romance, titled Christmas with the Cowboy, and I'm absolutely LOVING how this book is coming together! I wish you could read it sooner, but life, ya know?!

To celebrate this small victory, I put on my "Crazy Pumpkin Lady" apron and made a batch of my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you're itching for the recipe, find it on Instagram. I'm looking forward to making homemade pies for Thanksgiving.

I had hoped to write a whole book this month, like many of my author friends, but my son and his family are moving in with us this weekend. I've spent most of the month cleaning out our basement and running stuff to Desert Industries and Goodwill. I honestly had hoped that job would belong to my kids when I kicked the bucket, but NOOO!!! Lol!

It's a mixed bag of emotions for me. It's a unique and wonderful opportunity to spend more time with my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. As much as I love them, I'm really worried about getting my writing done! I think grandma is just going to have to take a breather and head on over to the library.
