Inktober… Day 3…

The word of the day is ‘Bulky’ joined with a Sci-Fi writing prompt picked at random by my kid. These are tougher than I thought…

“You have to tell someone!” his wife hissed at him, but he shook his head at her with a snort.

“Are you crazy? No one can know of this!”

“The lab techs have all the data. They will tell the V.P.’s in Research and then they’ll know that you withheld the information. You’ll be ruined!”

He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and sighed before h...

Inktober…Day 2

Image may contain: text that says

October 2- Wisp

“I’m telling you to look again, 8-5.”

There was a moment of silence from the earpiece the tech wore. The comms were real-time and he knew that the silence was pure irritation with him for his demand.

“And I’m telling you, Home, that there is nothing out here. We’ve been over it twice. It was a mech. Or glitch in the ‘wares.”

Or tech error, you mean.

The tech caught a blip of red at the side of his eye and swiped with his fingers to rotate the VR screen into his...

Inktober writing Challenge

Image may contain: text that says

In an effort to have some writing fun and rebuild some habits I have let lapse…I have taken a book of sci-fi prompts my daughter gifted me and have asked her and my wife to pick one that I will then use with the word of the day. It is challenging.

I am late in posting and a day behind but here is Thursday’s:

October 1st- Fish

“Will you put it down?”

His words, quiet though they were, broke through the rapt attention she gave her phone. The intent scowl faded a...

A lesson I should have learned from the characters that live in my head but didn’t!

Soas alwaysit has been a mightily long time since a blog posting. UhApril 23rd? To be precise. Yowza.

And usually, when I have skipped for this long, I come back and bemoan how little writing I have gotten done, how busy life is alla timewhinge, whinge, crab, crabetc.

This timeTHIS TIME, I saythings are different.

Yesit has been a year since I blogged, yesI have sorely neglected this sitebut I have produced many words toward my Hunted Mage Trilogy during that time.

I closed 2019 with 65,377...

Wonka’d by 2018…

2018? I guess I kinda feel THIS way: Completely Wonka’d! “I, the undersigned, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained, et cetera, et cetera… Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera… Memo bis punitor delicatum!” [slams the contract copy and the magnifying glass down, continues shouting] “It’s all there, black and white, clear as crystal!…You lose! Good day, sir!” I look back and see the only post I put here was back in FEBRUARY?...

Meet a Local Author…

Saturday, March 3rd…3pm at White Birch Books in North Conway, NH…I will be sitting down to a Local Author’s signing of my first two books HUNTSMAN and DAGGER.

White Birch Books

Come by to say ‘Hey’ if you are in the area.

A further note of interest: work on Book Three has resumed with 7,500 new words in Jan / Feb. I have been shockingly negligent in actual word production of late, but my New Year’s Resolution was to pick up again and write habitually and THAT I have accomplished even if my Wo...

First newspaper mention…

I am attending the Saima Park Tori again this year…I hope! (Thanks once again to my book distributors for shipping via the wrong service. I needed the extra anxiety of maybe NOT having books to sell at the event!)

My niece forwarded me the link to the Sentinel & Enterprise write-up. I don’t think I’ve been in a newspaper for my writing!

Saima Park Annual Tori is the place to be on Sunday for the Classic Car Cruise as well.

Come on by! I’m almost famous now. Once Steven Spielberg’s people call...

My guest blog with Streetside Conversations…

Unlearning Assumptions

My niece approached me via Facebook about participating in a new social justice endeavor she works with because A. I sporadically write stuff and B. one of the first themes was Justice and Hospitality.

At first I was reluctant, because…reasons…and then I remembered this story from the recent past.

It was fun to write, and the editors from Streetside were a pleasure to work with in revision mode.

So… Thanks, Kaija!

It was a nice reminder to myself that, despite frustrati...

Combo Post!

Greetings to all!

I want to give a shout-out to youngest sister and her hubby on their new endeavor: homesteading!

Anyone who has experience with homestead farming, off-the-grid lifestyle or the raising and care of farm animals, please stop by the newly established facebook group The Shadowlands Farm and drop a word of encouragement to baby sis and her fam!

They are starting a new project with ducks and mini goats in addition to the success they have had with chickens.

I think it’s smart to...
