It depends on the individual, but some writers strive to make every word a work of art. I take a different view. I like to finish my first draft (even if I'm not completely satisfied with it), then go about shaping and improving the work through as many rewrites as I can stand.(less)

“In a way I loved Sean from the day I first laid eyes on him. It wasn't instantaneous mind you, it didn't hit me like a thunderbolt and when you get to know me better, you'll know that I'm never likely to go all goggle eyed and weak at the knees. No it was more like a serum that had been injected into my bloodstream. The point of the needle so small, I didn't even feel it break my skin, but it was there all the same”

“Love all, trust a few,
Do wrong to none: be able for thine enemy
Rather in power than use; and keep thy friend
Under thy own life's key: be check'd for silence,
But never tax'd for speech.”
William Shakespeare, All's Well That Ends Well

“Reading makes me feel I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. ... Reading is bliss.”
Nora Ephron

“And what do we do when we reach the cover of the trees?" He asked, wanting to roar at the top of his lungs how hopeless this was, yet he reigned himself in and remembered how the child had impressed him when they’d first met.
"We wait." She answered simply and smiled at him again.”
