“In the chalky trough under the blackboard
are lessons dusted and already forgotten.
The teacher is squawking away once more,
scratching into the dark Welsh tabula rasa
the truths so far about God and arithmetic
with the expungible white of fossil shells.”

Best wishes from Majenta

This morning I am wearing a T-shirt bearing the legend "Hvar" - a tacky souvenir from a wonderful place. A Croatian island sounds like a fine choice of home. You can find my books here: http://bit.ly/19vt7Ts The latest ones are at the top of the list there. They are all short, and most are free. I'd certainly appreciate any reviews. I intend to explain my reasons for writing "SuperOldie" in a post on my blog here at Goodreads shortly.I haven't done any travel writing as such, though I have lived in several countries and of course drawn on my experience of them in my fiction. I appreciate your interest.
All the best,
Bryan

Which is the latest of your books?. I was wanting to read and review one or some of them to find out about your work. As an anarchist turned 'wooly liberal'(as I write it) author of travel books, I'm interested in similar mildly humorous writing. It seems to be a particularly Anglo Saxon thing, and I was wondering if there was a book to be written on the subject.

Thanks, Scribble. May you have a monstrously good year!

Joe

Thanks, Dean. Glad you like it. 3 more steps left. That guy's attitude is not uncommon. One dumbo I met in Rome wanted to open a bar there which would exclude Italians.

I have met people like this around the world and it's truly unbelievable. My friend met one American that had been living in central america for about 12 years, running his own bar. "Your spanish must be really good!" my mate said. He then replied that he didn't speak a word of spanish. "But then how do you communicate? " my friend asks, stunned. "Son, if someone wants to talk to me, then he can damn well learn english!"
Hmmmm.
