“i see poets riding the red winds unchecked by the borders of time, wandering with light feet over the land mines and trip wires, barbed and barbarian, unfettered through the barriers that curtail the flows of life, poets pelting the halting barriers which strangle everyone everywhere.”
Peter Standish Evans, Red Winds Howl

“...the borders he respected were the borders of dreams, the misty borders of love and indifference, the borders of courage and fear, the golden borders of ethics.”
Roberto Bolaño, Between Parentheses: Essays, Articles, and Speeches, 1998-2003

“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
Anaïs Nin

The Sorrentino novel sounds really interesting. I just finished John Lanchester's The Debt to Pleasure, and I thought it was one of the best books I've read this year, in the past several years. His writing awed me :)

Katy, I'm finding that Goodreads is introducing me to so many grand writers through friends.. my to-read list could grow exponentially, sadly time doesn't grow that same way. I'll try and cherry pick the reads.. loved The Orphan Master's Son.. that was special.. Cheers
