A couple of cool things...

I haven't posted much here in months because my computer likes to crash while bloggong for some reason. I'm giving it a go and living on the edge today because I wanted to get the word out about a couple of cool things.

I'll be at the Sheboygan Children's Book Festival on Saturday, Oct 13th with Sarah Weeks, Ilsa J. Bick, Jacqueline Houtman, and Julie Halpern, where we'll discuss the roles of family in novels for children and teens. The panel will be mod...

School Visits & Skype Visits

Cindy Lord blogged about school visits this morning and showed some thank you letters she received and they’re so sweet! I’ve been a friend and follower of Cindy for years and always enjoy her posts, especially when she shares those student notes.

In my day job, I’m a school library assistant and am around K-8 students every day. Out of all the duties I do—check out, check in, re-shelve, process incoming orders, process discards, pull units for teachers, etc., it’s the booktalks that I...

Skype an Author and Great Review of Mercy Lily!

Happy New Year! 2012 is going to be made of amazing. I just feel it! It's starting out with a bang!

The January/Feburary 2012 issue of Library Media Connection ran a great review of Mercy Lily and designated it a recommended title. Yay! After a short synopsis, the review reads:

"This book will be one that girls will not be able to put down. While the euthanasia storyline is key to the book, Lily's sense of loss will ring true. Lily learns that she doesn't need to be quite as strong as she...

Questions About Parodies & Retellings

While I'm working on my funny middle grade & taking notes for a YA thriller, I'd like to begin querying agents with a picture book I've written and am not 100% sure if it would be considered a parody or retelling. My story is basically a modernized version of an old song, but with a twist. I've gotten great feedback on this manuscript and it's time to do something with it. :-)

I know there's lots of great retellings and parodies out there and I'm not sure what the difference between the two is...

Mercy Lily & Stephenie Meyer bio promo & Signed Copies

Double the fun! (that should be triple the fun!)

My publicist at Flux alerted me to this amazing review of Mercy Lily by Teen blogger, Lauren, and it just made me so happy to read her words! (I think Flux is pretty happy, too! :) Check it out here: http://laurenscrammedbookshelf.blogspot.com/2011/11/mercy-lily-by-lisa-albert.html

Lauren really got it and her last line blew me away with joy. "Heartwarming yet heartbreaking, Lisa Albert’s Mercy Lily is one of the best contemporary YA reads of...
