Why is Writing So Hard

Feel super bad I've ghosted all my readers. Could be chalked up to life, which is partly true. Could also be the result of writer's block. Again partly true. What are the hard facts? My heart just wasn't in it for a long time. Maybe it's due to the fact that I thought I'd outgrown it. This was a pastime I'd indulged in since I was old enough to write and just didn't hold an appeal anymore. That's more so geared toward the truth. I assumed I just didn't have it in me anymore. I still loved reading, from newb authors to the literary titans. Why was it so hard to stare at a blank screen? Why would I subject myself to a blank screen and seemingly endless anxiety about why I couldn't type out and string words together that would make magic? Recently, I've returned to basics and in the most simplest of ways. My boyfriend of all five months gifted me with something for my birthday. Super simple and non-exorbitant. A beautiful fountain pen and a leather-bound notebook. I don't know what whether it was the simplicity of the gesture or the fact that someone still thought I was worth a damned. And suddenly it was as if something had broken free within me. The floodgates released. And I realized I haven't been this happy, this content in a long time. And all it took was hearing that wonderful 'scritch, scritch' of a good pen against paper. Will my words win me a Pulitzer? Ha! Absolutely not! Is it worth it? Without a doubt. Not just for those of you who enjoy it. But for me. Long story short: if you've hit a wall in life, take it back to basics. Do what you love because you love it, not because you expect others to love you for it. Longer story short: Actually writing :)
