Losing NaNoWriMo is Still a Win!

During the last week of October, I had a silly idea. I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo, national novel writing month, an effort to write 50,000 words during the month of November.

I have won (achieved writing 50,000 words) in the past, but November tends to be a busy month. And this is not to make excuses. It certainly can be done.

On top of having a full-time job, being a single mother, and all of the other fun freelance things I do to ensure I have a roof over our heads and food in our belli...

Writing Resurrected My Fire

Creativity is never in short supply, for me. Whether it’s a physical craft, cooking, baking, writing, drawing, whatever… I’m always creating something.

Like a fire, creativity needs to be nurtured and protected to stay bright and burning. (Generated with Adobe Express)

Until my day job poured a bucket of water on top of the raging inferno of ideas that used to fill my head and light me up.

It’s not that my job is terrible. I honestly don’t work more than 34 hours weekly at it, but it’s physically a...

On Horror, and Why I’m Not Afraid Anymore

For a long time, I’ve tried to be careful about what I write. Careful about what I post publicly. Careful about the things I share on social media.

Some context on why I’m so wary: I once made a video on an old YouTube channel discussing my struggles with mental health after having children, with a message of “I’m doing alright now. Hope you are, too. It’s ok to not be ok.” My ex-husband and his attorney attempt...

Embrace

The atmosphere smothered us, the darkness a comforting blanket as we stood together. Mere inches of space between us, but an expanse that stretched across galaxies kept us from connection. His voice was low, soft; my counter a soul-piercing war-cry that wracked my body with sobs.

Fingers so gentle, his large hand warm and careful as he lifted my chin with two fingertips. A flash of fang in the darkness as his words danced to me across the infinite chasm of emotion, tugging at my heart like a lea...

To New Beginnings!

Hey, all! Welcome to my cozy, weird little corner of the interwebs.

Making the move to a centralized location for all of my creative endeavors has been a long time coming. The gurus tell you to “niche down” and make wildly specific little boxes for every single thing you do. But doing that left me fragmented and feeling like I had to put on a different persona for each of those isolated islands of stuff.

So, here we are. My writing, my audio work, merch things, and handmade items (some of which ...
