Happy New Year from Long Reach!
The start of a new year always feels quieter than I expect it to. Less fireworks, more reflection. The house settles. The noise, however, doesn't truly fade. In my case, the 'quiet' usually comes with a mug of coffee in hand while four girls move through the house in various stages of laughter, chaos, eye-rolling, and borrowing each other's brand new Christmas gifts. Clothes and make-up are meant to be shared, as I've learned.
Somewhere between refilling my cup and wrangling them in, I've been thinking about the end of 2025 and the changes it brought.
Last year brought Ford’s Edge into the world, and I’m still a little in awe that it's out there in the world. Christian and Ella were never meant to be loud characters. Their story lives in restraint, in the things left unsaid, in the slow ache of wanting something you don’t believe you’re allowed to keep.
Admittedly, I have a very soft spot for Christian.
As we move into this new year, I’m deep into writing Wilde’s Divide, and I can tell you this much: it doesn’t look away from the hard parts. Where Ford’s Edge was about restraint, Wilde’s Divide is about consequence. Christian’s past has teeth, and Ella is no longer standing at the edge of something unknown. She’s already in it.
This next book leans further into emotional weight, into choice, into what happens when love isn’t enough to outrun the things you’ve buried. It’s still a slow burn. It’s still intimate. But the questions it asks are sharper, and the answers are harder earned. Or at least, I hope that's how it comes out.
Alongside all of this, there’s another story quietly taking shape, one that’s been growing in the background while I juggle school schedules, band practices, and just one more cup of coffee than I probably need. Kept by the Storm lives in that quieter creative space. It’s not ready to step into the light just yet, but it’s very much alive.
I’m glad you’re here. I’m excited for what’s coming. And I hope this year brings you stories that stay with you long after the last page.
Happy New Year,
Larkin

Welcome and Hello!
Hey there! I’m so glad you found your way to my corner of the internet. I'm Larkin Calder, the author of stories where passion, love, and complexity collide. My books are filled with messy, real relationships, emotional rollercoasters, and characters you might fall in love with (or hate, depending on the day). And if you’re reading this, chances are you’re here because you're curious about the stories I create—or maybe just looking for a place where you can kick back and get to know the person behind the pages.
I’ve always been the type of person who writes because I have to. Whether it’s a late-night burst of inspiration or a few stolen hours in the quiet moments of my house (usually between juggling life with my four daughters), writing is where I find myself. It’s how I process the world, my own experiences, and the characters who come to life in my head, demanding to be heard.
When I'm not writing about fierce hearts and complex love stories, you can find me curled up with a cup of coffee, surrounded by the sounds of my daughters laughing and talking. My house is never quiet for long—though I do manage to find a few peaceful moments in the chaos where I can focus on the next chapter.
This blog is a way for me to connect with you beyond the pages of my books. I’ll share updates, sneak peeks into my writing process, thoughts on life, and anything else that seems to be on my mind. Whether you’re a fellow writer, an avid reader, or someone just curious about the stories I tell, I hope this space feels like a place where you can get to know me a little better—and maybe even feel inspired to tell your own stories, too.
Thank you so much for being here. I’m excited to share this journey with you, and I can’t wait to take you along on the ride as we dive into the worlds of my characters, the emotional messes they find themselves in, and the unexpected twists of fate that lead to love.
So grab a coffee (or tea, if that’s more your thing), settle in, and let’s get started. If you’re as excited to read my books as I am to share them, you’re in the right place.
Thanks for stopping by—I’m happy you’re here!
