Dear Readers and Readers-To-Be: I'm overjoyed to tell you that my next book - "A Sea Change" - was finally published as an ebook on September 20th, 2012!

I realize it's been a long time coming and I apologize for the wait. I hope you'll find it was worth it.

It's been a long, hard fifteen years since "Remember The Time" was originally published: I lost my best friend to leukemia, my darling mother to COPD, and my creativity to Graves Disease.
But I'm happy to say the urge to write has returned. Like any unused muscle that has atrophied, it's going to take some time to get up to full strength. I sincerely hope I can!

"A Sea Change" was written in 1998. Although I've edited it exhaustively over the past two months, I wanted to keep the story set

I had no idea what to expect. When I got out of my car, walked to the edge of the bluff under a canopy of firs and madronas, and looked out at the Narrows and the vanilla cream-colored cliffs across the water I could barely breathe for the beauty of it.

I would have to say that within that moment the bare bones of "A Sea Change" rushed into my head and never left. It sounds spooky. It sounds cliched. But it's the truth.

Celebrating Sixty!

Spring is just about here (whether the weather cooperates, or not, is a whole other story) and I think it’s time for a celebration (sort of) and a contest (definitely).

First things first, though, and in keeping with the springtime theme: Let me introduce you to one of my favorite blogs. Go to www.boisdejasmin.com and see if you don’t agree with me that it’s one of the loveliest sites ever. Victori

“Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.”

Robert Goolrick
“The thing is, all memory is fiction. You have to remember that. Of course, there are things that actually, certifiably happened, things you can pinpoint the day, the hour, the minute. When you think about it, though, those things, mostly seem to happen to other people.

This story actually happened, and it happened pretty much the way I am going to tell it to you. It's a true story as much as six decades or telling and remembering can allow it to be true. Time changes things, and you don't always get everything right. You remember a little thing clear as a bell, the weather, say, or the splash of light on the river's ripples as the sun was going down into the black pines. things not even connected to anything in particular, while other things, big things even, come completely disconnected and no longer have any shape or sound. The little things seem more real than the big things.”
Robert Goolrick, Heading Out to Wonderful
