Charles Frankhauser started writing a memoir about 15 years ago because he mistakenly believed his adventures as a kid on the road with many of the Big Bands would interest readers. He was proved wrong on that assumption after the purchase of a Guide to finding literary agents. He honed his skills in query letter writing to the point of exhaustion before a kind agent replied with a message to the effect: "without 'celebrity' in one's own right and 'platform' forget trying to publish your memoir." So, he switched into writing fiction because it's more fun to write it and hopefully will entertain readers with a well constructed storyline that is somewhat different, e.g., the novel, Slush Pile Inspector was created.
