Charles Frankhauser started writing a memoir about 15 years ago because he mistakenly believed his adventures as a kid on the road with many of the Big Bands would interest readers. He was proved wrong on that assumption after the purchase of a Guide to finding literary agents. He honed his skills in query letter writing to the point of exhaustion before a kind agent replied with a message to the effect: "without 'celebrity' in one's own right and 'platform' forget trying to publish your memoir."
