Power of Being a Misfit

What if? Okay now that I have your attention. How popular were you growing up? I mean in high school were you one of the stand out kids or were you a wall flower? What about in college? Was your picture pasted all over the place or were you just an insignificant student. Not trying to call people names here and I do have a point. The funny thing about those days was so many people would see the "popular" people and wish they were in their shoes. The real test I guess is when you go to a class reunion or see these people twenty years later and see how they've evolved. Okay now for the "what if." What if you were created to be famous not just popular! What if you were created for greatness but never achieved it because you looked at other people's successes and yours didn't measure up so you gave up, took a menial job and have been living that life for the last twenty years.

My favorite band of all time is the Beatles. I love the Beatles and have a mantra that I use when talking to people. "Never trust anyone who doesn't like at least one Beatle song." The Beatles amaze me. Here you had four young men from Liverpool England which was pretty much a slum as they were growing up. None of them were accomplished or great musicians individually in fact the band went through several changes before they were established as John, Paul, George and Ringo. This was a band that launched their careers doing covers of rock n roll by black artists at a time when listening to black music was socially unacceptable. However they found their niche and together they created incredible music. When these four men came together magic happened! I am sure you have heard these musicians individually and while the music is good it is certainly not up to the standard set by the Beatles. I am not sure that if these musicians went on American Idol or any of those moronic shows they would even make the first week cut.

My point here is this. Everyone was created for a purpose. I don't know what religion you are but most religions back that statement in some form. There are over 7 billion people in the earth and no two of them are the same. There are no two fingerprints alike no two samples of DNA alike. I have to believe that if God could create all these people and make them all different. He also didn't plan on them serving the same purpose. In other words while we have been busy trying to look like someone else, think like someone else, act like someone else we have lost our purpose and that is individuality! Again the Beatles four men all different...Paul a romantic, John a revolutionary, George a spiritualist and Ringo? All different but when they came together (get it? Come Together!) magic happened. There is power in being a misfit! Find your niche. Find your groove! Maybe you have been called to thrive with other Misfits! Either way stop wasting time trying to be someone else when who you are individually is a masterpiece created by a loving Father to excel in individuality! Ok...now for the commercial...buy my book Misfitz and see how these young people overcame the system when everything around them said no! Blessings and thanks for reading!
