Thanksgiving Blessings!

What a glorious time it is when we get together with those we love. Whether that involves family and/or friends, Thanksgiving is a perfect time to share delicious recipes, one another's company, a bit of football reveree, a few laughs and the bonds of togetherness.

Thanksgiving is an interesting North American tradition. I researched the origins of this holiday and wrote about Squanto in one of my Hidden Treasure, Historical Truth articles. For an indepth look at Thanksgiving, you can read the article here: www.katherinebone.com and http://www.katherinebone.com/content/...

What is your holiday tradition or your favorite Thanksgiving memory?

My favorite memories consist of driving home from one of our many duty stations and spending time with my grandparents. Both my maternal grandparents were educators, University Music Professor and 2nd grade teacher. Both taught me to value wisdom, music, theatre, and literature as the four key elements in creating a satisfying life.

But the one thing my grandparents were well-known for was celebrating the holidays in grand style. Turkey, oyster dressing, individual jelled salads, especially Bing Cherry Salad, various vegetable dishes, delicious homemade rolls and various divine pies were the usual fare. Grandmother's crusts were always light and flaky. Her turkey was never dry. Classical music provided ample atmosphere, creating a sanctuary we never wanted to leave behind. Joyous memories!

Another favorite memory of mine comes from our tour in Italy. Young newlyweds, hubby and I spent our Thanksgiving holidays with Language School friends. Great times, little hastle, providing lasting joy that I will always hold dear to my heart. ;)

As you celebrate Thanksgiving in your special way, I wish for you another spectacular memory to add to those you hold dear in your heart.

Blessings,

Katherine
