Sponsored: I have new favorite leggings!

Recently, I had the pleasure of getting a personal stylist to pick out an outfit for me. This was really an interesting concept to me considering that I rarely even style myself. But, Kat Smith of Agnes & Dora  reached out and said she could hook me up with a crazy great new outfit. I explained that I was a fluffy, chunky girl, and she assured me that she could make me look great nonetheless.

Y'all? She was right.

She sent me a pair of phases of the moon leggings and a cute new coral t...

Just Between Friends Sale Tulsa - ad

The good people at Just Between Friends-Tulsa (  http://www.tulsa.jbfsale.com/homeView...)      Gave my sister and I passed to their presale on Saturday. My sister goes religiously to their sales. I hadn't been to one in quite a while because my kids are the size of grown people. I know!!

So, with my $50 gift certificate in hand and our presale passes, Rachel and I set about going to shop.

I really only had one thing that my niece requested: high heel shoes.

Should be easy e...

Sponsored: Wrapy

My friends at Wrapy asked if I were interested in trying out one of their awesome baby wraps. Since my baby is twelve years old and almost as tall as I am, I really didn't have a use for a baby wrap. But, my great friend, Emily, had just had her sweet baby. So, I told Wrapy to send one my way--Emily and her sweetness and I would give it a whirl.

Now, when my kids were little, I'm sure people were wrapping babies, but my kids were always so squirmy and didn't like being held a whole lot (unless...

Poop and other things parents need to talk about

Y'all know I love to share and overshare until people start to squirm. I firmly believe the by sharing the things that make us crazy, give us gray hair and make us want to hang ourselves and others by our toenails need to be talked about. (Remember? I went on the Dr. Oz show and told e'r'one how I peed in the shower.)

And those of you who overshare with me? Well, I love you just as much as I love talking about unmentionables.

My friends, Norine Dworkin-McDaniel and Jessica Ziegler, are t...

Things I learned at the amusement park

This week I went to an amusement park with the girls. Brian had meetings to attend, so I was going it alone. While the girls rode most of the rides themselves, I had lots of time to be contemplative.
First, I learned that I lose all control of my mouth, specifically my vocal editing skills I still cuss like a sailor when I'm on rides.
Second, I learned that some rides take me back to where I was teeny or even thirty years ago.  The rocking pirate ship? I feel like I'm 13 again...

A Day In The Life Of A Momma

The number wasn't in my contacts, but I recognized it as the school number. I swiped my thumb to answer the phone because curiosity is a strong influence and said hello.

"Momma! Where's Daddy? He's supposed to be here to pick me up, and Mrs. H says she can't leave me here unsupervised and Daddy's not here and I have no idea what to do." Hadley said all of this without taking one single breath.

"And you've tried to call Daddy?"

"Yes, Momma. Geez."

I assured her I'd call him and develop a plan for...

Maybe it's the carbon monoxide talking ...

Let's just start with a cliché: when it rains it pours.
Let's do another one: you don't know what you've got until it's gone.
Hows about one more: it's always darkest before dawn.
What am I talking about? Our week. Yes, I know it's only Tuesday, but it's been L O N G so far. I'm trying hard to spin it positively in my mind.
Sure, our car is not running and no one seems to know the issue ... But! At least we have my mom's van to drive. And! The car didn't crap out in the middle of a da...

A tale of two shoes

The only thing left for us to be totally ready for Misti and Mark's wedding next weekend was shoes. Since Misti and Mark were engaged, our family has been stupid excited for this new chapter in their lives. Misti and I were in the 2012 NWA Listen To Your Mother show and have worked together on the OKC Listen To Your Mother show since then. In 2013, Hadley wouldn't let me talk about the show without asking me what Misti had to say about it. And last year, Briley said, "I can't remember how we'...

A Rose In Any Other Language

I read my daughters' texts nightly. They are not allowed to have their phones in their rooms at night and they are not allowed to change their passwords so that Brian and I can have access to them. This is not an invasion of privacy. This is a safety precaution. They are still learning to navigate life, and we need to be aware of what's going on. So far, they are respectful of this and only bothered a tiny bit.

Then, Hadley pulled a quick one on us.

She began texting in Espanol. Wha--?? I only...

Doing Something

Last month, I was invited to a luau. Normally, the thought of a luau makes me giddy because I'm always up for a party. This luau, however, was at DaySpring Villa in the Tulsa area. And I have to admit, I was a little bit leery.

You see, DaySpring Villa is a home for abused women and children, including those escaping from a life of human trafficking. Human Trafficking. It's a very heavy word, as is domestic abuse as is child abuse, as is the word escape.

I went to the luau, not really sure wha...
