Honoring an Estranged Mother on Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is a tough one for me. A day of emotional landmines.
My History With Mother’s Day
I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by my father. When I was 16, I disclosed this to my mother through a series of truly unfortunate events (details can be found in Caskets From Costco). When Someone You Love Doesn’t Want the Vaccine
Along with becoming controversial on the political stage, the Covid vaccine has turned into a divisive subject among friends, families, and co-workers. Basically, people that we generally like to be in contact with.
This kind of conflict can feel very stressful, especially when piled on stop of the fear of the virus, the variants coming out, and the overall stresses of the pandemic. We can feel an avalanche of emotions that make us want to shut down or act out.
I bring some good news, ...

Here’s How You Can Process Pandemic Stuff
A lot has changed since I last posted here, my interwebs home.
I’ve missed you.
In the last three years, I’ve gotten divorced, started working full time, moved a couple of times, met a man, started a new career, got engaged, built a new Wilson Writes website, and am currently starting a business as a Trauma Recovery Coach and getting married in the next couple of months. Oh, and the global pandemic and sh*tshow that was 2020. Oy.
As the Pandemic…Ends?Which brings me to the subject matter of thi...

Join Me to Uncover the Best Kept Secret to Success
A few short years ago, I was floating around, lost, not knowing how to move forward. I had quit one job to take another, only to be let go (I say “fired”) from that job after a mere three weeks of work. My kids were getting older and I felt caught in the never-ending transition of […]

Five Awesome Reasons for a Mental Health Comedy Class
For years, people told me I was funny. And like the best neurotic writer-comedian, I wasn’t sure I was funny until I signed up for a comedy class. A mental health comedy class. Diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and anxiety, this class was ideal for me to express myself in a safe environment. That was 8 […]

Week Four: Strength to do Whole30 for Life?
You know, at least Whole30 is only for 30 days. Right? Yeah, that’s what I said to myself, too. I mean, I grew humans in my body for around 7 months each, I can surely not have grains, sugar, and alcohol for a month. And then it turned into THE REST OF MY LIFE. First, […]

Week 3: How to Not Fail on #Whole30
Guess what? There is no failing on Whole30. I know…you’re probably like, wwwwhhhhaaaa? But I’m serious, and I think I make a pretty good case. About two weeks into my Whole30 extravaganza, I went to the Oregon Coast with a bunch of girlfriends. This trip had been planned weeks beforehand as a fun-filled, no-calorie-counting, bonding […]
