For many years, Dov Yates has been devoted to discovering and sharing children’s stories from around the world and across different eras—many of them little known, and some even on the verge of being lost. Compared with well-known classics, these tales are often more imaginative and inventive, reflecting diverse cultures and unique perspectives on life. Like the other volumes in this series, this book is crafted to captivate children between the ages of 6 and 12.

Unlike traditional collections of fairy tales, this series not only entertains but also encourages children’s thinking and creativity, supporting their healthy growth. While it is far from a didactic guide, the stories are rich in knowledge and wisdom, offering lessons that are both enjoyable and meaningful.
For example, have you ever wondered how people might have weighed a massive elephant more than two thousand years ago, when tools and resources were extremely limited? There were no scales capable of measuring five thousand pounds, and killing an elephant just to weigh it would have been far too cruel—not to mention the very opposite of what the gift-giver intended.
Or imagine this: when you are at a complete disadvantage—your three horses all weaker than your opponent’s—do you know how to turn the tables? Can you solve a puzzle that seems utterly impossible?
In this book, children will discover stories that spark curiosity, inspire clever thinking, and show that even the toughest problems can be solved with imagination and wisdom.
In addition, after every one or two stories, there is an enlightening explanation and guidance addressing the challenges children may face as they grow. These insights connect the story to real-life situations, helping children navigate problems in their studies and daily lives. For example, they may learn how to manage relationships with classmates, siblings, and even strangers; cope with setbacks, frustration, arrogance, or self-pity; and overcome other emotional or behavioral challenges.
