Introducing... The Book of Spores!
Hey folks!
I’m extremely excited to announce something I’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while. Last year, I was invited to take part in a fantasy anthology featuring a short story I wrote set in a brand-new world not featured in any series I’ve written beforehand. The anthology is called the Book of Spores, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to join such a stellar lineup of authors writing stories spanning genres and worlds.
Across dimensions, it creeps and consumes.
Hidden in the vaults of a world-spanning library lie the records of a mysterious book, one made of mold and magic. Varied accounts of its existence remain scattered throughout the multiverse, but when an archivist attempts to bring its pages together, she will learn how dangerous a book—and her own ambitions—can be . . .
Collecting fungal tales from across countless universes, this FanFiAddict anthology spotlights the best of fantasy, science fiction, and horror, ready to spread across the multiverse like spores. Delve into sixteen strange stories by authors from the FanFiAddict book blog and SFF Addicts Podcast, and prepare for your imagination to be colonized by The Book of Spores*.*
My story is a short standalone mystery in a gaslamp fantasy world in which humans live alongside mysterious creatures called the Otherkin. MC, Elisabeth, is a detective who solves magical crimes alongside her shapeshifting sidekick, Shrike. The short story is about a strange book that shows up at a museum… and staff members start mysteriously vanishing.
The theme of the anthology was fungi, which was a lot of fun to play with, and I’m excited to share this glimpse into a new world I’ll be exploring more of in the future.
The Kickstarter is now live, and you can get ebooks, paperbacks, and also an exclusive deluxe hardcover that’s going to be absolutely stunning!
Find the campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fanfiaddict/the-book-of-spores-a-fungal-sff-anthology?ref=5lx1xm
I hope you’ll consider checking out the campaign while you wait for my next launch! (I may have another campaign of my own in the works for early 2026… more on that soon.)
Happy reading!

Void's Vengeance is out now!
Hey, folks!
I’m thrilled to announce that Void's Vengeance is now out on my store in ebook, paperback and hardback formats - and is also available on all retailers!
You can find it here: https://books.emmaladams.com/pwd4507hom
Here's the blurb:
Former captain Yala Palathar is once again in exile, while a tyrant sits upon the throne of Laria. The armies of the dead stalk the lands, while across the country, the orders of Disciples are falling, one by one.
Amid the chaos, Yala is offered an opportunity to return to the battlefield as a soldier of the highest rank. Accepting might be her only chance to get close to her enemy, but at the cost of being drawn deeper into the god of death’s domain.
Niema, too, faces a raging battle in her heart, between the promises she swore to the god of life and the knowledge that the god of death has marked her, too.
As the gods of life and death prepare to wage all-out war, Yala and Niema face choices that will shape the future of the nation and the world at large. Either they will bring an end to a conflict years in the making, or else watch everything they hold dear fall into the ruinous void.
I can’t believe the series is over, and it feels surreal to me, after spending so long immersed in the world of Laria and the Disciples. Yala, Kelan, Niema and the rest will always have a special place in my heart, and while I’m closing the door on this world for the time being, that doesn’t mean I’ll never return to Laria in the future. I don’t have anything currently in the works and I’m very much a one-project-at-a-time kind of writer, but I’ll keep the door propped open a little. Just in case. 🙂
Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported the series, from people who backed on Kickstarter, who bought the book(s), and through sharing the series. I’d also really appreciate it if you leave a review on retailers if you enjoyed the books. Reviews are crucial for helping us indie authors spread the word about our books, and especially for books like Death’s Disciple which are a bit outside of the norm compared to the kind of stories that are selling at the moment.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the book!

10 Years of Indie Publishing: A Retrospective
As of today, it’s been exactly 10 years since I published Adamant, first in the world-hopping fantasy Alliance series, and kicked off my self-publishing career.
So much has changed since then. When I hit that publish button, I had no idea that just over a year later, my life was going to be upended in the best way possible when Faerie Blood took off and I was able to start writing full-time.
Nearly a decade later, I’m still hanging on - by my fingertips, sometimes - and I’m aware of how lucky I am that I’ve lasted this long. Not many authors do, and it’s no surprise it feels like I’ve been in the business far longer than a decade. Since 2015, the publishing industry has been through a lot of changes. I’ve had to switch genres. Had to give up on dream projects. Had my heart broken a thousand times. Even after making the impossible happen, I’ve had far, far more failures than successes. That’s just the nature of the business.
The upside? The writing part is still just as fun as it was a decade ago. I haven’t lost the joy of creating a story, moulding it into the shape of a book, and releasing it into the world.
I hope I never will.
This is why I’m still in publishing. Yes, I’m stubborn, driven to persist far past the point when most sane people would have long given up, but I still love the craft. I still love the art of creation. And that, in the end, is everything.

All the new editions of the Changeling Chronicles books are now live!
I have a very exciting update for you today… the new editions of the Changeling Chronicles books have all been uploaded to all retailers.
If you haven’t read the series yet, it's available on the store as a complete bundle at 50% off the list price (the big bundle isn’t available on retailers at all, in fact).
As I shared in my last blog post, you can redownload the ebooks if you’ve already purchased them on any retailer.
If you purchased the individual books or bundles from my store, the new versions will already be in your BookFunnel account. Just remove the books from your device and you can then redownload them to your e-reader from my.bookfunnel.com.
If you purchased on Amazon, you’ll have to remove the books from your device and then re-download the files from your Amazon account.
If you purchased on Barnes & Noble, you’ll have to archive the ebook files and then re-download them to your device.
If you purchased on Apple, Kobo or Google Play, you can go into your online account and hit the “download” button again and it should bring up the correct files.
I hope that helps. If you’re having trouble downloading the new versions of the books, be sure to contact the retailer where you originally bought them (or BookFunnel, if you bought directly from my store). Otherwise, let me know if you have any questions.
As for the new editions of the audiobooks, Faerie Blood is now up on the store. You can find that here!
And if you want to join the readalong on the Patreon, you can sign up below.
Happy reading!

An exciting announcement!
Back in June, I got the audiobook rights back for my Changeling Chronicles urban fantasy series and decided to get them rerecorded by a new narrator so I can republish them myself. Since the books are 8 years old (!), I decided to do a quick editing pass first to clean up some typos… which turned out not to be that quick after all.
After eight years away from the series, I could look at the story with fresh eyes and assess where I could have done things better. While I haven't made any major plot alterations, there are some extended scenes and additional detail layered into each of the seven books. I also made some continuity tweaks to bring the books in line with later books in the Changeling Chronicles universe.
For those of you who've already read the books, the changes won't affect your enjoyment of the series or future books set in that universe, but I’m hoping that for new readers that the new versions of the titles will be a stronger introduction to the Changeling Chronicles universe as a whole!
I'm currently in the process of re-proofing the books and the new versions will be uploaded to all retailers so that anyone who has already purchased the books will be able to redownload the new files.
So far, Books 1, 2, and 3 (and the Book 1-3 bundle) have been updated. If you purchased the books from my store, the new versions will already be in your BookFunnel account, so you can redownload them to your e-reader from there.
On most other retailers, you’ll have to redownload the file from your online account.
If you purchased on Amazon, you’ll have to remove the book from your device and then re-download it from your Amazon account.
If you purchased on Barnes & Noble, you’ll have to archive the ebook file and then re-download it.
If you purchased on Apple, Kobo or Google Play, you can go into your online account and hit the “download” button again and it should bring up the correct file.
If you haven't already read the series, though, I’ll be offering free copies of all seven new editions on the Patreon next year too, as well as my personal notes on the process of revising an older series and some extras, too. Like free short stories… and the new audiobooks, of course!
You can join the Patreon here.
I’ll post another blog update when all seven books are now available.
I like to plan ahead, and since 2026 will be 10 years since the initial publication, I may be building up to something really special. Stay tuned!
Happy reading!

The retail launch is set for October 15th.
Here's the blurb:
In Laria, the truth cuts as sharp as a blade.
Former captain Yala Palathar and her allies prevented the god of death from claiming another city, but at a cost. Now, war threatens between Laria and their rival nation of Rafragoria after half a decade of peace, and tensions in the capital are at an all-time high. While the unprepared monarch tries to keep everything under control, it seems inevitable that Yala and her surviving squad-mates will be called to battle once again.
To complicate matters, bodies are washing up on Laria’s shores, corrupted by Mekan’s insidious magic. Yala is certain that someone is trying to push their nation into a fight that will achieve nothing but a fresh wave of souls to feed the god of death, but the Disciples of the Flame are determined to burn away the evidence - literally.
As Dalathar comes ever closer to boiling over in chaos, Yala must choose whether to reveal the secrets that will either save everyone from an avoidable war… or shatter the fragile peace holding Laria together.
The book has already received a fabulous review from the awesome Esmay at Before We Go Blog, and the Kickstarter books are out in the world now, too.
I hope you enjoy the continuation of Yala and the others' adventures!

The Corruption's Claw Kickstarter is now live!
The next Death’s Disciple campaign is now live!
Hey, folks! I’m so excited to share that the Corruption’s Claw Kickstarter campaign has officially launched! Not only that, but we hit the funding goal in just over half an hour, which is wild!
If you want to grab your copy of the third Death’s Disciple book, you can join the fun over here.
This one will be even more special because I’m sending signed bookplates to all backers who choose one of the print tiers instead of a digital signature, and I’m hopeful that we can soar even higher than the last two.
I can’t wait to share this new book with you.
Happy reading!

I have a Discord server!
Hey, folks!
I’m so excited to announce that I’ve set up a Discord server! It’s my hope that we can build a fun little community where real conversation can happen and we can have a blast talking all things fantasy.
Why did I do this? Well, I do have a Facebook group, but it’s increasingly hard to get FB to actually show my posts to people, which makes interaction challenging. I’ve been on Discord for a couple of years and the same doesn’t seem to be the case on there, so I’m hopeful that it’ll be a more pleasant place to hang out.
If you feel like joining me in the Multiverse, here’s the link!
So far there are places to discuss my books and latest news, share what you’re currently reading, memes and pet photos (this is the internet, after all!), and chat about other fantasy media like TV and video games. It’s entirely free to join and I’m hoping to keep it a drama-free zone, so I hope you’ll come and join me over there!
(Note: I’m working under the assumption that Discord will mostly appeal to readers of my fantasy books, but if you want to talk about my Elle Adams paranormal mysteries too, there’ll be space to do that as well!)
Happy reading!

Traitor's Tome is on the store now!
Hey, folks! I'm just dropping in with a quick update to let you know that Traitor’s Tome is now available on my webstore!
Ebook: https://www.emmaladams.com/products/traitors-tome-deaths-disciple-book-2-ebook-preorder
Paperback: https://www.emmaladams.com/products/traitors-tome-1
Hardback: https://www.emmaladams.com/products/traitors-tome
It'll be out on retailers on Feb 6th. Here's the full blurb:
Several weeks have passed since the capital of Laria narrowly escaped destruction at the hands of the god of death and His followers. Former Captain Yala Palathar is attempting to lie low, but the dead no longer rest easily in their graves, and her role in the battle has drawn attention from potential allies and foes alike.
Niema, too, has been profoundly changed by the choices she made during the battle of Dalathar, and journeying home to the Disciples of Life reveals the devastating consequences of her actions. Niema grapples with her desire to protect Yala’s secrets, but when monsters start appearing in the forest, she fears that she’s brought doom upon her own people.
When the Disciples of the Flame come to Yala with the news that a dangerous book used by the god of death’s followers has gone missing, Yala is compelled to seek it out to avert further disaster. Her quest takes her to Setemar, home of the Disciples of the Earth, where her path soon crosses with Kelan and the Disciples of the Sky. It isn’t long before Kelan’s alliance with Yala puts him at odds with his fellow Disciples, and the closer Yala treads to the domain of the god of death, the louder Mekan’s voice whispers in her own ear.
With threats stirring above and below ground, ally is set against ally, and not everyone will survive the calamity that will follow…
I'm really proud of this sequel, and it's already had a stellar review from Esmay over at Before We Go Blog. I hope you enjoy the continuation of Yala, Kelan, and Niema's story!
