Long time, no blog. :) I've been working on getting my new book, Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter, ready for publication, among other things.

It is now available, and today (12/23/2014) through 12/27 the ebook/Kindle edition is free. (It's also available in print for $7.20.) You'll find a description of the book, and what some other poets have said about it, on the Amazon page.

The ebook/Kindle version of Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter will be 99 cents for the next few days (the print edition, which is, of course, nicer, is $8.00). This is the updated description I've written for it:

"The poems in Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter describe a vision of the relationship between Jesus and Maryam of Magdala (a relationship which the author believes was intimate), and the lives of those around them at that time and in that place. Although they are, to some extent, based on New Testament and Gnostic texts, they are not meant to be read as 'Christian' poems; they are, instead, poems about life and love and the possibilities of the spirit.


Some of the poems in the book have been published in the literary journals Kentucky Review, Cafe Aphra, Menacing Hedge, and Construction. Nancy Bevilaqua's poems have also appeared in or are forthcoming from Tupelo Quarterly, Atticus Review, Apogee Journal, Iodine Poetry Journal, Houseboat, The Otter, Hubbub, and other literary journals."

The price of the print edition of my poetry collection, Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter, will be going back to its usual price of $8.00 within the next day or so (it takes Amazon that long to put through a price change). At the moment it's $4.60, which is no doubt as low as it will ever be (I'd reduced the price as much as I was allowed to, and then Amazon took it a dollar further).

Last summer I was thinking and dreaming a lot about what had happened in Ferguson, and about similar events around the county. I was also thinking about the destruction and death in Gaza under Operation "Protective Edge", and about finishing the poems for my book about Jesus and Mary Magdalene, Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter. This poem was one of the results, and I'm really happy that the literary journal Juked chose to publish it!

If I could make my poetry collection, Gospel of the Throwaway Daughter, free all the time, I would. However, Amazon only lets me do it at certain times, and only with the Kindle version.
