There I was, lying in bed crying my eyes out because I had just wet the bed (obviously this was a long time ago; I don’t want to give anyone the idea that I, a grown man, wet my bed AND cry about it). Anyway, my dad came in, and after helping me get cleaned up, sat down and told me a story. I remember how much better I felt after hearing that story, even though I don’t remember what it was about (it was a very long time ago), yet I was able to go asleep happy because of it. The power of stories is something you look back on as an adult and are impressed by; as a kid you just enjoy them!
As an adult I have been many things; a dishwasher, a waiter, a cook, a cleaner, an electrician, a handyman, a teacher and a writer. And while I have given up ...more
