Nicolas Michael Azar, född 1970 i Örebro, är en svensk författare och professor i idé- och lärdomshistoria vid Göteborgs universitet. Han är bror till fysikern Christian Azar och författaren Robert Azar. Azar disputerade år 2000 i Göteborg på den prisbelönta avhandlingen med titeln Frihet, jämlikhet, brodermord – om debatterna i Frankrike under Algerietkriget (1954-1962). Den behandlade framför allt Albert Camus och Frantz Fanons verk. Hans senaste publicerade verk på svenska heter Den ädla döden - Blodets politik och martyrens minne (Leopard förlag, 2013). Under sommaren 2014 utkom även en introduktion på franska till Frantz Fanon på förlaget Maxmilo (Paris) och våren 2015 gav han ut en bok om renässansens Spanien och debatten om Nya värld ...more
