Michael Curtis Hilde began appearing on screens and in video games at a young age as an actor. His love of cinema took him to NYU Film School, but a change in direction came after Hilde eye-witnessed 9/11. Following a seminal period reading Joyce's Ulysses, he went on to study Literature and write novels at UCLA. Writing books taught him to write songs and in 2005, Hilde began to develop the songwriting project which started as Almaden, and later turned into Mountainhood. To date, Mountainhood has released 18 albums on a variety of indie record labels and created a rare kind of music which Time Out New York dubbed "Avantfolk." Hilde's next release is forthcoming on Gnome Life Records.
