For my GR friends, readers and fellow authors – some cool news and info!

Alright, it has been some time since I made a descent post here. Lately, I have been very busy with work and life stuff (and problems :P ) ... Ad I do have some news & info to share with you all. Here we go:

First to my GR friends and readers of my work:

THANK YOU – I have noticed some of you started following my work (yes, it is always all about my work and not me) and I appreciate it very much. It is definitely a good vibe for the upcoming projects ;) Super thanks and I will do my best to bring about better and better titles for your entertainment!

The Night of Elisa goes Global – During the previous week, TNOW has made it to several shops/webshops around the globe and there is a big chance it is available in your country now – or coming very soon!

Click here to see where it is available and which format: http://thenightofelisa.blogspot.no/p/...

Halloween Giveaways – Tragic Books prepared some cool Halloween giveaways for you on GoodReads, LibraryThing and BookLikes. Click here to participate and win your free copy of TNOE: http://thenightofelisa.blogspot.no/20...

A Cold-Hearted Phoenix – Episode 1: Dark Love: This is the first announcement of a cool title coming on Valentine's next year, a miniseries in 5 episodes. It is under editing at the moment and I already started the illustrations – this time, ink. I don’t have a synopsis to give to you yet, all I can tell is that it is an innovative project in format and writing. It will be packed with illustrations (more than TNOE) and a fancy layout. On The Night of Elisa you have prose with influence of comics and cinema while on this new work it will be a hybrid mix of prose and screenwriting, more screenwriting though, including the formatting. Stay tuned. Oh and the genre? “Urban Gothic” – and it is nothing like you have read before!

>>>>>Now, for the authors:<<<<<<
I have a blog for the sole purpose of promoting indie authors and books: http://storiesofduskland.tumblr.com/

How can I help promoting your work? On the following ways:

- Book spotlight
- Interview
- Interview & spotlight
- Guest post

All with author links and buy links (author bio and pic too, if you want)

I can’t do any reviews at the moment (except for those I have contacted personally – or am reading their books right now). Send me a private message if you’re interested. We can cover 1-3 of your books.
---------
Cheers and have a great Halloween month, if you don’t care about the dark vibes of this month, then just enjoy yourself as you wish ;)

Thank You – And let’s have a creative 2015

Hello there! :) How were your holidays? Was it all hectic or did you have some time to relax and do other things you normally don’t do along the year?

Mine were absolutely hectic, and I did almost nothing of what I planned (i.e. reading and advanced house cleaning!). But I did connect with closest family and friends, which was good for the mind and soul.

Before I head any further on this little letter, I’d like to THANK YOU.

In May 2014 I started an adventure on the self-publishing playground and have been absolutely fortunate to come across wonderful people – such as you – who have given me support in many ways. You took of your precious time in provide feedback, supporting my work with reviews and blogposts and nonetheless, purchasing it!

So, what is worth… Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :D \m/

Now that we all said goodbye to 2014 , let’s follow through 2015 with tons of creativity, inspiration, prosperity, achievement and realization. If you’re a reader, I hope you enjoy yourself and enhance your wisdom with great books. If you’re an author, I hope you are the one providing those great books to our community – we thank you for that! :)

description As for me, I am glad to announce I am publishing an illustrated miniseries in 3 episodes, called “A Cold-Hearted Phoenix” in a few months. Soon I will tell more about the project, so stay tuned for this one!

I have just published as well “No Escapes VOL. 1 – Melancholic Beauty in Norwegian Landscapes” , which is a reference art book for painters and photographers. It is not a table book, as some may think, but because of the way it is built, it can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone who likes landscapes, arts and photography in general. As the title suggests, the book is melancholic, moody and somewhat dark. The second volume is coming somewhere on the second semester.

See you soon, have a great time!

Hello 2016, Goodbye 2015! A late new year’s post and random thoughts

Thank you Thank you, for the friendship, for the readership and for the support! This I must say before anything else!

After a December where I worked to the bone, and a couple of relaxing and artsy weeks off for holidays, I am back and welcome you into 2016. Okay, I’m a bit late… But who cares?

First the new year thing: I don’t make promises or resolutions. I do some strategic planning and try to accomplish most of it along the year. Then in the end of the year or beginning of a new, I evaluate what I have accomplished or failed to. That simple.

Now, my thoughts about random things from 2015:

My best read: Drum rolls…. For… Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Frankenstein, please! I had watched the movie by the time it was released, and read the story in different versions. I read the original/integral English version this time… Boy how I cried reading that book… My lips twitched and tears flooded my bed, when I read The Wretched telling his story. Oh my.

Nicest TV series: Would you be surprised if I told you it was The Walking Dead? No? I wouldn’t either! (Now, I think The Transporter may win this year!)

In the bookish world: I have been blessed enough to come across amazing people. Great authors and readers who are a joy to talk to and trade ideas with. From the book communities I have a profile on, like GoodReads, BookLikes and Library Thing, GoodReads is for me the best place to make it happen. So kudos to GR!

By the way, that LibraryThing… is really a thing! I thought I was antisocial to some extent… until… I came across LibraryThing! :P Does any author/reader get that thing? I have the impression it was created by librarians, for librarians – to catalogue books and that’s IT! :) Hm… Okay, you can run a giveaway there, too.

Last, but not least… I will be promoting other authors on my GR blog. Because the world is an amazing huge place, I will be promoting fellow authors on my GR blog ;) So stay tuned!

New website! TragicBooks.com - Almost forgot, http://tragicbooks.com is now online! Finally, a brand new website for you, the reader!

And that’s all, folks!

Last author spotlight/interview of the year: Tabitha Vohn + My Happy Holidays note to you

description For the Follower's Giveaway winner result see this post.

Tabitha Vohn writes Poetry and Fiction (genre crossover with literary or literary). I across her work a few years back via GoodReads. I have also read and reviewed two of her books: Tomorrow is a Long Time and Requiem for The Fallen.

Here you can read a mini interview we did together and check out her newest book and the winner of the Indie B.R.A.G. Prize!

1 - Tell us more about Only for a Moment. When did you get the idea to put together a Poetry book and how was the process?
Last year I was "stuck" with two sophomore classes to teach, after four years of having only senior classes. I was a bit put out at first, but then I decided to have some fun with it; doing lessons that I normally wouldn't have the chance to do with senior classes. One of the those ideas was Poetry Friday. We'd watch slams and then my kids would write poems on a proposed topic and those who spit their verse would receive extra credit. It turned into this remarkable family of poets every Friday. A lot of laughter, tears, and finger snaps. During that time I started writing poetry again, along with my kids, and it rekindled the love of poetry in me. Poetry was my first love in terms of writing.

This past summer I worked on my next novel but wanted something to publish in the meantime. I decided to put together a collection of my best poems and--with the help of a dear friend and remarkable artist who did the cover and interior illustrations--Only For a Moment was born.

I filtered through the past nineteen years of poetry that I've written and picked the best ones. I tweaked many of the older ones along the way. They all sort of naturally coalesced into certain themes or thematic topics so organizing them in the collection was an organic process.

2 - What do you like writing most, Fiction or Poetry and why?
To be honest, it depends on the mood I'm in. I like the more instant gratification of poetry and the cathartic release of it, as it's more personal and confessional for me. But fiction is an escape into other people's lives and loves and adventures and heartbreaks. Sometimes I need that escape, and I often grow to love my characters like friends.

3 - Are you working on a new book or have plans for one? What will it be about?
I'm currently "sitting" on a novel called "A Different Path", which you can check out on my website (www.tabithavohn.com). It's my best work thus far, and I'm waiting until it's properly edited before it's published. Editing isn't cheap so....thus the wait.

I'm also working on a novel called "Walking Man's Road", which is sort of a dual exploration into antiheroes and obsession.

4 - What is your biggest wish or dream as a writer?
I wish most for a steady following of readers. They are hard to come by without that anomaly "breakthrough" that all writers dream of. I also hope that my work improves with time. And as long as someone is being moved or inspired or--at the very least--entertained by what I write, then it's not all for naught :)

And now... MY *HAPPY HOLIDAYS* MESSAGE TO YOU:
Hmm... I don't have anything fancy or elaborated to say, really... I just started some free days from client work and I am still mentally tired (mild way to say mentally impaired or brain dead!), so I will go direct to the point.

******* Hope you all fellas have a PRECIOUSSSS Christmas and even more PRECIOUSSSS New Year! That you have fun, that you enjoy the best the season has to offer, accompanied by the most awesome people in the universe that are your family and friends. Eat the good stuff, celebrate with great music and get cool gifts! HAPPY HOLIDAYS, GUYS! And thanks a lot for your support!!! *******

But there is a dark side to the season too... People missing those who passed away (like me), people who had a financial setback (like me) or missing their family too far away to meet them in person (like me).

So, despite me having a foot on the dark side, I also have a foot on the bright side, because I have by my side a wonderful companion and his PRECIOUSSSS family! :D

But that's it, in a nutshell, X-mas and New Year are a season of mixed feelings, good and bad, happiness and sadness for me in particular.

Hope that you are more on the bright side than I am... And why am I telling all this here?! Because behind the author/illustrator, there's a human being who has problems and has to deal with life like everybody else ;)

And that's all, folks!
See you in 2017!

Thank you + FOLLOWERS GIVEAWAY & Happy Holidays!

description So how is your December rush going? Do you have special plans for the holiday season? How do you celebrate Christmas and New Year?

For me, November and December have been very busy! As most of you know, I write, edit and publish on my free time, which means I have a day job to help paying the bills. What do I do for a living? I am a professional illustrator and graphic designer, and I have been doing mostly Fantasy book covers for indie authors and publishing houses for the past 6 years (and before that, I did graphic design for different forms of advertisement in the heavy metal/alternative music niche). And for the past one and a half year I have also worked as art teacher at the local school.

These past three months, I have contacted my clients and told them I am stopping doing book covers so I can pursue the career which I have always dreamed about: be an independent artist. Long story made short: has been a tough decision and difficult transition for me. But in 2018 I will start the year doing what I love most, which is teaching and producing independent art. I will better invest time on writing and illustrating Gothic Fiction books and producing new artworks for my portfolio and can’t wait to share them with you guys!

I am also starting Tragic Books YouTube Channel in January! Yeah! It will focus on Gothic Books reviews, Writing and Self-Publishing, and a sneak-peek into my book projects and some vlogging. That will be my way to support more of our ‘dark’ community as well as help aspiring writers – who like me, wish to have their work published independently.

It’s a lot to think about during these holidays, which I plan to spend home, with peace and quiet together with my husband. ^.^ We don’t have religion, but we like to enjoy the season nonetheless.

So last, but not least… THANK YOU! Seriously! Thank you guys for your support! I am very fortunate that you have taken the time to read, share or purchase my stories! Means a lot for someone who started out from zero!
Happy Holidays, take care and have fun!
