She Hasn’t Been Writing… But Now She’s BACK!

NQAM

The last time I posted to this blog was a little over a year ago. Since then, my life has changed a bit and my love of writing has taken a back seat to the reality of being a recent college undergraduate on the job search to a graduate student with a full time position. A few months ago, I received a kind inquiry from a reader asking when my next book would be released. I couldn’t believe it: I literally thought the only people bothering to read my books were blood relations. I immediately started work on Not Quite a Marriage, a book that I hadn’t started, that I’d only been conjuring in my mind between writing two other novels of which I’ve hit stumbling blocks.

I’m happy to say that Not Quite a Marriage is done. I’m currently editing and hope for it to be ready for release next week. I will be emailing that lovely reader an ARC. If you’d like one as well, please feel free to send me a Facebook message. I hope to have the artwork and the synopsis on the website in the next few days.

Don’t forget to review my novels–good, bad, meh; reviews help other readers find books! As always, HAPPY READING!

Everything Wrong wtih Celebrity, Everything “Write” with Entertainment

New PictureThis article, written by Vinay Menon for the Toronto Star embodies everything you love to hate about celebrity. Menon covered the release for Selena Gomez’s upcoming album Stars Dance. Some of the highlights include:

Strolling into The Hazelton Hotel in Yorkville, [Menon] text[s] Selena Gomez’s publicist.

Minutes earlier, as I was parking, she had texted another warning [...] “Just want to stress again how important it is to not ask any Bieber questions or anything even relating to relationships. It’s all about the music today.”

Right. The music.

Gomez is in town to talk about her new album, . The rules of engagement are as follows: 1. I have 10 minutes to ask my questions. 2. These questions must dodge the superficial ephemera that often propel the 20-year-old into the gossip cycle: her looks, her friends, her clothes and, most frequently, her on-off-on-really-off relationship with Justin Bieber.

But there’s a problem: it’s the last day of May and the new album won’t be released until July 23 (this story was written under embargo). With the exception of “Come and Get It,” a track released early as a video, I have not heard “the music.”

Laineygossip.com adds:

What I can say is that it’s another example of how celebrities dictate their interactions with the media to the point that it’s now becoming a restriction of free speech  [...] SOME celebrities will do away with that bullsh-t and actually behave like human beings, speak to the reporter as a human being, as all human beings should. MOST of them however, including Selena Gomez here, will allow their people to elevate them, without merit, to a position of power over the person who is SUPPOSED TO BE HELPING THEM PROMOTE THEIR PRODUCT. And this is what happens.

“Not Like the Movies” FINISHED and Ready for Release in June 2013!

stock-footage-film-rolling-out-of-a-film-reelNot Like the Movies, the next installment in the intertwining series of books (following Spinster, Please Do Not Touch the Talent and Hot Off the Press), follows Olivia Black as she navigates life after divorce and is thrust into the middle of the publicity relationship between actors Julian Baker and Caitlin Jones. A synopsis of the story from its page is below:

Olivia Black hates her husband; she means EX-husband, that no good jerk that ceremoniously dumped her in favor of his new, “blonde fitness-instructor-by-day-serious-actress-by-never-going-to-happen.” To nurse her wounds, she sets off on a French adventure just in time to make new friends and envelope herself in the middle of the chaotic relationship of actor Julian Baker and his expressionless girlfriend-slash-co-star Caitlin Jones. What starts as a no-strings-attachment turns into a lesson on a lot of things, namely, trust, love and lust, but most importantly what to do when your life is suddenly amplified for the whole world to devour.

Enjoy Not Like the Movies when it is released in paperback and Kindle e-book form in June 2013. Preview the first few chapters on the page right NOW! Thank you for your interest!

“Spinster” 2nd Edition Released

stock-footage-film-rolling-out-of-a-film-reelDear Readers,

I take all reviews to heart. Writing is a difficult process, but it is one in which I take great pride and I don’t feel comfortable releasing material that is sub par. As such, Spinster, the novel that  started it all for me has been rewritten. The second edition is now available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback form. While the bones of the story remain the same, it is my hope that the characters and overall execution of the story have been respectively, fleshed out and sharpened. For those of you that read the first edition and enjoyed it, THANK YOU. Your Amazon and GoodReads reviews are immensely appreciated. For those of you that did not, it is my hope that you will not turn yourself off to enjoying any of my further stories and that you give the characters of Spinster a chance to win you back. Either way, any interest shown to my novels, whether it has dwindled or not, is greatly appreciated. As always, happy reading!

Sincerely,

Catherine Jerome

Catherine Jerome is a 2012 university graduate currently enjoying a desk job and pondering application to graduate schools across the United States of America and other varying English speaking nations — she wishes she was fluent in other languages, but alas is not and would not be able to navigate an ESL (English Second Language) foreign country.  While biding her time clicking on her endless keyboard in her office, she wrote Spinster, the story of another recent university graduate navigating the waters of 21st century dating (i.e. finding a partner-in-crime outside of high school, college or the internet). Easier said than done, but hopefully with a few laughs along the way. Spinster is Jerome’s first novel.

Jerome’s second novel Please Do Not Touch the Talent was released in November 2012 and her followup, Hot off the Press was released in January 2013. You can “borrow” Spinster, Please Do Not Touch the Talent and Hot off the Press for free as an Amazon Prime member, or purchase on the same platform as a Kindle reader for only $.99. Amazon also provides a free Kindle application for smartphones and PCs. Jerome’s fourth novel, Not Like the Movies, is looking for a March 2013 bow. You can preview the novel here.
