A former three-sport athlete in high school, Samantha grew up with a ball in one hand and a book in the other. From the moment her first-grade teacher asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, Samantha knew she wanted to be an author. She writes young adult contemporary sports novels that serve up heart, humor, and a whole lot of hustle.

Originally, my first story was supposed to be about a basketball team who had lost almost every game for years, but as the story evolved, it ended up being the opposite--a team striving to uphold their reputation as the top team in the league. When I finished this book, the desire to write about a losing team that united together to win still lingered with me, probably because this was my experience in high school. One day I got an idea for a scene, so I wrote it down. This was followed by another and then another until I filled pages upon pages of ideas for this story, which eventually became A Game Worth Watching. In part, the story from A Game Worth Watching came from my past experiences on a losing basketball team, playing basketball with the guys on weekends, and the desire to write a book about a girl who overcame adversity to gain a truer sense of self. “I don't care if you're so poor you live in a cardboard box, if you fail to graduate high school, or if thousands of miles try to separate us. I'll always love you just as much as i do now.”
