Basically, they are like 28-days-later fast until rigor mortis sets in, then they are super slow until rigor mortis passes, then they are your usual walking zombie. But the fact they are fast at first explains how the dead were able to overcome the living so quickly. Most of the story takes place well after the plague, so most of the zombies readers will encounter are of the slower-moving variety.

There is a reason for the zombie plague, a virus, and I have based it on a real-life viral infection that spread in New York hospitals in the early 2000s and killed most of those infected.

As far as metaphorical or allegorical implications, well, in my story, the zombies are more background than anything else. The story surrounds a few groups of survivors who are slowly working their way towards one another. So zombie fans looking for lots of gory zombie action may be disappointed. I like character-based stories, and that's what I hope I've written. The book, by the way, is completely written on legal pads, and now I have to transfer it into digital form. Almost finished.

Hope that answered your questions. I don't think I spoiled anything. Let me know if you have more.(less)

Write at the same time every day, keep to a schedule, set goals (such as a certain amount of words per day), outline your projects either act-to-act or chapter-to-chapter so that you know exactly what it is you are writing for each writing session. Write something, even if it isn't exceptional (you can always tweak it later).(less)

Decent book, but I don't necessarily consider a lot of these dad jokes.

Dad jokes to me are best when there's not a question and then a punch line. Just two statements back to back. Pretty good book, I guess.
