Began life in southwest Arkansas, moved to Louisiana and Mississipi, then Texas where I began school in Houston area: Stafford, Bellaire and South Houston. Attended Pasadena High School TX (football & track). Meanwhile, rough-necked in the oilfield until I joined the US Army 1961. (US Army Reserve 1963-67. Attended colleges: The Citadel SC--track, U.S.M.A.--West Point NY--track & 3field, Sam Houston State U TX (also U. Puebla, Mexico).
