Serious writing for Tina began in 1989 at the University of Arizona when her first poem, Ethereal Rein, was published in the university’s annual Persona. The following year she won a performance for her first play in the university’s annual 10 Minutes or Less. While continuing to write poetry and fairy tales, Tina did not return to seeking publication until 2009 when Scott Stanley, former editor of The Tucson Poet, of Igloo Press agreed to publish her first collection. So yes, the poetry within each of her collections span 26 years of writing.

“I was busy winning awards in short subject film, mostly comedies and I was also a self-supporting single mother.”

Tina’s poetry rises from a concoction of connotation, assonance, consonance coupled wit

If I have been paid or tasked to write, I simply sit down, focus on the piece, allowing the piece to formulate in my mind and then just start writing. When my oldest daughter was three, I commented to her on her amazing coloring job, "You are talented," she replied, "I just had a good idea."

I am currently privileged, I write by choice and within my voice of poetry, fairy tales, treatments, stage and screenplays.(less)

John Irving
“If you care about something you have to protect it – If you’re lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.”
John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany

Jack D. Zipes
“Fairy tales since the beginning of recorded time, and perhaps earlier, have been “a means to conquer the terrors of mankind through metaphor.”
Jack Zipes

“The pilot says, “Get ready to jump. I’m not really going to set clear down on the ground. Once you’re out, grab your gear and take cover.” Then he radios that he’s coming in and makes a fast descent to the airstrip.”
Dennis R Bourret, From Saigon to Katum: Two Exchanges of War

“As he expected, by nightfall those same four soldiers came back. They tied his hands behind his back, dragged him out, kicking and punching him while swearing continuously. My dad didn't fall as he tried to stand on his feet, his mouth shut, his eyes wide open as he took the beating. They dragged him away in the dark. My whole family cried but me, I swallowed my tears. I saw the man in my dad, I felt what he felt. I decided to do what he had done when I grow up.”
Sam Huynh, From Saigon to Katum: Two Exchanges of War

“The bad thing is, that I will always be within 30 feet of every round fired by the closest gun. This is just what a professional violist wants to do to further his career”
Dennis Bourret
